December is here! A busy, cozy, festive month but you’ve got this. Tackle the week with focus and productivity, and remember to balance it with moments that nourish your body and soul: a good meal, a favorite book or a fun game night.

Prone work on the box is one of the most functional movements we do in Pilates. Lying on your belly helps strengthen the upper and mid-back for better posture, builds shoulder stability for everyday reaching and lifting and supports healthy spinal extension to counter all our forward focused habits. It also trains core and pelvic stability while the arms and legs move independently, exactly the kind of control we need for winter activities like skiing, snowshoeing and walking on snowy or uneven ground. A small movement with big, whole-body benefits.

As we move into this cozy, busy holiday season, I’m excited to share our December schedule and to highlight a new offering in The Nest, Open Studio Time! A dedicated time to move at your own pace, practice what you’re working on or enjoy some quiet time on the equipment with guidance nearby. A perfect mid-week reset and a beautiful way to deepen your practice.

December is a wonderful month to stay committed to your routine. Pilates can keep you feeling strong and steady for winter sports, snowy walks and all the holiday activities that fill this season. It also makes a thoughtful, healthy gift to give to a friend our yourself!

To every teacher, every client and every person whose path has crossed with our, whether you’ve stepped foot into the studio or joined us from home on Zoom, thank you. Your presence, energy and dedication have shaped this community in the most meaningful ways. I’m continually reminded of the strength, health and connection we build together.

The Pilates Chair is small but mighty and inversions like this show just how powerful it can be.

With hands on the pedal, this position challenges your core stability, shoulder strength and body awareness in every direction. It’s a true test of control, balancing strength with breath, grounding through the hands while lifting and lengthening through the body.

Inversions like these help improve spinal mobility, coordination, and confidence. It reminds us that Pilates isn’t just about movement, it’s about mindful connection.

Pilates During Pregnancy?? Safe, Supportive and So Beneficial!!

Pilates can be an incredible form of movement throughout pregnancy, when done mindfully and with the right guidance.

Why we recommend it:

1) It builds core stability (especially deep abdominal and pelvic floor strength) to help support your growing belly and reduce back pain.
2) Improves balance, posture and alignment as your body changes.
3) Encourages mindful breathing, which can be calming and helpful for labor and delivery.
4) Keeps you strong, mobile and connected to your body through every trimester.

Safety & Modifications:
We can provide individualized modifications to keep your practice safe all the way through full term by adjusting positions, using props for support and avoiding certain exercises that create too much abdominal pressure or strain.

Pilates during pregnancy should always feel supportive, not strenuous. With the right instructor and a body-aware approach, you can move confidently and safely right up until your due date.

As always, check with your healthcare provider before beginning or continuing any exercise program during pregnancy.
