In our ongoing commitment to support the mental health and well-being of our Relatives, we'd like to address an important topic that affects many of us: political stress and its impact on our emotional health.

Political Stress, sometimes referred to as Political Trauma, is a common experience that can arise from exposure to politically charged events, actions, or rhetoric. As Indigenous peoples, we may be particularly attuned to these stressors due to our unique historical and cultural experiences. Check out the flyer below to understand more about Political Trauma and tips for how to cope with it.

Ambience Counseling is happy to introduce Kayla Heflin. She is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who will begin seeing patients April 1st.

Kayla is planning on seeing patients in McCook and in outreach clinics in rural Nebraska. She will be working with children and adults and will provide medication management for a variety of psychiatric disorders, including ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and schizophrenia. Her role will include monitoring a patient’s response to medication and managing side effects or other complications related to pharmacological treatment.
