As we step into 2026, let's keep our health and wellness in the for front of our pursuits.

A friendly reminder that real change happens when daily choices become sustainable routines.

When movement, nourishment, rest, and stress management are built into how you live and not just what you aim for, results follow naturally as a byproduct of consistency, not willpower.

Live Well

Planning for Progress, Not Perfection

Plans for better health often fail when life doesn’t go perfectly. Instead of asking how to achieve your goals, ask “Where is this plan most likely to break, and what will I do when it does?” This simple shift helps you stay consistent, adjust to challenges, and make progress even when obstacles appear....

Most people think fitness only counts if it happens in the gym. But what if the movement that matters most is the movement you do between workouts.

Have you heard of the NEAT Principle?

Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT) focuses on the everyday movements like walking, standing, chores, and play. These small actions may not feel like “exercise,” but together they can make a meaningful difference in how our bodies feel and function.

In this article, I explore why NEAT matters, how it supports sustainable weight loss, and how everyday movement can become a powerful part of your long-term health plan.

You can learn more about it here by following the link provided.

Training Journal: Thursday 18 December

"Train with intention. Strong reps add up." This barbell session is designed to build full-body strength while reinforcing solid movement patterns. Use challenging but repeatable loads, that allow you to maintain control on every rep. The tempo should be slow enough to emphasize time under tension, helping improve strength, joint control, and lifting efficiency. Rest long enough to recover between sets, but stay focused on quality movement than rushing the workout....

A Practical Core Routine Featuring the V-Up

The V-Up is a dynamic core exercise designed to strengthen the abdominal muscles while improving coordination, balance, and body control. When lifting the upper and lower body simultaneously, the core is trained to work as an integrated system rather than in isolation. This movement is makes the V-Up an important exercise for developing functional core strength that supports posture, movement mechanics, and overall physical performance....

How Exercise Builds Mental Toughness

Develop resilience, discipline, and confidence through movement with one workout at a time. In all exercise there generally comes a point where the body wants to stop. Our breathing gets heavy, muscles feel spent, and every repetition feels like a small victory. But something remarkable happens in these moments of struggle, our mind begins to take over where the body would quit....

Welcome to VGA Strength & Conditioning.

I am a fitness professional who believes in developing relationships through trust, respect, and commitment. My philosophy is a holistic approach to fitness, which reflects my beliefs, concepts, and attitudes towards fitness and the way I educate individuals.

A holistic approach means thinking about the big picture of fitness, health, and wellness. I believe to become successful in helping individuals address their needs, a fitness professional needs to look at the whole person, including their physical, mental, and emotional health while taking social factors into consideration.

I am not a specialist in the sense of a competitive powerlifter, weightlifter, or bodybuilder. For those seeking only conditioning for aesthetics, I cannot offer you a quick solution but the tools and education for solving the issue.

As a fitness professional, I know success amounts to focusing on the five main components of fitness. The five components are nutritional assessments, strength conditioning, aerobic conditioning, movement, and education.
