Plum Branch, SC -- After a long and fulfilling life, Charles Wayne “Wildman” “WC” Crawford, 79, of Plum Branch, S.C passed away at his home on Collier Street surrounded by his loving family on Saturday August 2, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Plum Branch Baptist Church in Plum Branch S.C Sunday August 10, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Dalton officiating.

Wayne was born on July 22, 1946, to the late Charles Willie and Birdre White Crawford of Plum Branch. He graduated from McCormick High School. Wayne was an iron worker and a crane operator his entire life and he loved his trade. His hands were hardened by years of working steel and controlling massive cranes that “built the world.” Beyond the construction site he loved his family, enjoyed riding motorcycles, dancing, and showing off pictures of his grandchildren. Wayne lived life to the fullest. He was a Christian and a member of Plum Branch Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Crawford, and a stepdaughter, Dana Ricketts Gray.

Survivors include his wife Cornelia Crawford of the home; two stepdaughters, Melinda (Del) Fellows of Abbeville, S.C., and Brook (Allen) Waters of Plum Branch S.C; a stepson, John Burton of Plum Branch S.C; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister Jean (Bubba) Wells of Plum Branch, S.C.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont 408 W Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

McCormick, SC -- Thomas Russell McAbee III of McCormick, S.C. died Monday, June 23, 2025, at Self Regional Hospital, Greenwood, SC.

The Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday: June 26, 2025 at Overbrook Cemetery in McCormick, S.C. with Bo Willis officiating.

Russell was born to Clair and Thomas McAbee. He was a member of McCormick First Baptist Church. He was also a Store Manager at Bilo and Walmart. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Russell McAbee; cousins, Martin McAbee and Jennings Jr., cousin Foster Sondley Robinson III, and his Uncle Jennings McAbee Sr.

Survivors include his Mother: Clair McAbee; his Aunt, Connie Robinson; Cousins, Vicie Robinson, Cartha Smith, Dora and David Hine, Connie Linear, Hope Jones, and Charles McAbee.

The family will receive friends after the Graveside Service.

McCormick, SC - Mary Jane Young, 82, wife of the late Thomas W Young, died Sunday, April 20, 2025 at her home in McCormick.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 23, at Troy Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger McCoy Officiating. Burial will follow in the Troy Cemetery with words by Bo Willis.

Mrs. Young was born to the late Fountain and Mae Roberts Ellenberg. She was a member of the Troy Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two sons, Jeffrey Young (Pauline), and David Young (Teresa); a daughter, Nancy Hanosek (Ben); two grandchildren, Brandy Young and PJ Young (Kate); and four great grandchildren, Caydence Hopkins, Christian Hopkins, Zion Martin, and Zayden Martin.

Pallbearers will be Christian Hopkins, Jovan Jenkins, Robert Harper, AJ Young, Brandon Dornberg, AJ Lovell, and Nick Bowick.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Strom Funeral Home.

Ralph Foster Lee, Jr., husband of Patsy Franklin Lee, died peacefully on May 23, 2024 at Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born on May 11, 1940 in Florence, South Carolina, Ralph was the son of the late Louise Lee Stephens. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Lee Wells.

Ralph was a member of McCormick First Baptist Church and past Master of Mine Lodge 117 in McCormick.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by a son, Tommy (Sherri) Lee of Easley, a daughter, Amy (Tim) Barresi of Mount Pleasant, grandchildren Christopher and Taylor Lee, Eva, Clara and Joseph Barresi, and sisters Elsie (James) Jackson and Jeanette Brown.

Visitation will be held at McCormick First Baptist Church on Sunday, May 26, from 2:00-3:00 with a service following at 3:00.

Willie Mae Gilchrist Wood, wife of the late Lindsay L. Wood, 95, died April 6, 2024 at Forest View Manor.

The Funeral will be held at her home church, Red Oak Grove Baptist in Edgefield County, on April 12 at 11 am with Rev Tim Shull officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Wood was born in Edgefield County. She was the daughter of the late George A. Gilchrist and the late Ellie Dorn Gilchrist. A retired teacher, she was a former member of the Long Cane Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Edgefield Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Mine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her two sons, George Wood of Ninety Six, and Roy Wood of McCormick; three daughters, Lynda Wood Guess of Lancaster, Willie Wood Green of North Augusta, and Chris Anne Wood Sondles of Ninety Six; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Red Oak Grove Baptist Social Hall after the burial.

Samuel "Sammy" Davis, 77, of Plum Branch passed away at his home on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10th at Plum Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Dalton officiating.

Sammy was raised at Connie Maxwell Home in Greenwood. He loved painting and music. He was predeceased by his two grandsons Jabe and Justin Clegg.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years Janice Davis: a sister, Joan Latimer; one son, Jamey Clegg (Tammy A); two daughters, Sammi Jo Davis (Tommy), and Beth Matthews; 12 grandkids; 18 great grandkids; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pam was a wonderful Mother, Daughter, and Friend. She worked in Customer Service for many years at Food Lion, Hobby Lobby, and SCDOT. She loved making crafts, being outside, staying busy with a project, and spending time with her Family and her sweet dog Bella. She lived life to the fullest. She was truly an angel that touched every person she met. She had a kind heart, sweet smile, and a beautiful soul.

Her Survivors include her Mother Janice Hardy, Father Tommy Willis, Brother Greg Willis his Wife Lisa and Family, her Daughter Brooke Jennings, and Son Ryan Balser.

McCormick, SC - Mrs. Ruth Irene Ramsey, 97, of McCormick, SC, passed away, December 24th, 2023, at Edgefield Post Acute Care Facility, Edgefield, SC.

The Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, at First Bethany Baptist Church with Pastor John Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the Plum Branch Cemetery.

She was the daughter of late Ethel White Finley and Clifton Monroe Finley. She was a very strong willed, hard working, and deeply passionate loving woman. She worked from a young age in the cotton field, to working in the Miliken Mill, then serving others at Forrest View Manor. Irene spent her life caring for others. She told it like it was and was as bold as her beautiful red hair. Even in hard times she handled any challenge she faced with the utmost grace.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Edgar Finley, Eugene Finley, Melvin Finley, Mary Catherine, Dorothy Sellers, her Son-in-law William Lawrence Gable, and her Great Grandson Drew Spurlock.

Her Survivors are her siblings Nathan Finley, McCormick, SC, Beatrice Gibbons, Columbia, SC, her children Annette Gable, Grapevine, TX, Janice Hardy, McCormick, SC, Vernon and Wife Glynda Ramsey, Plum Branch, SC. She had six Grand Children, eleven Great Grandchildren, and three Great Great Grandchildren.

Justin was born and raised in Whitetown by Jamey Clegg and Tammy Barker. If you knew Justin you know what he loves best, his family, friends, and most of all his son, Kayson E. Clegg. He was a member of Plum Branch Baptist Church. Justin was predeceased by his brother, Jabe E Clegg.

Survivors include his mother, Tammy Barker (Joey); Father, Jamey Clegg (Tammy A); a son, Kayson E Clegg (Mother Brooke Ashley); two sisters, Courtney Bowick, and Haley Clegg Garcia (Andrew); two brothers, Dylan Clegg and Christopher Clegg; grandparents, Janice and Sammy Davis; and numerous Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, and Nephews.

McCormick, SC - Barbara Owings Burkett Roberts, 95, passed away August 1, 2023 in Sebring, Florida. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 7th at 11:00am at McCormick City Cemetery with Bo Willis officiating.

Barbara was born March 6, 1928 to the late Pearl Furqueron and B.C. Owings, Sr. Barbara was first married to Walton Burkett and they moved to Miami, Florida to work. After his death, she married Lou Roberts. After retirement, they moved to McCormick where they bought and restored many properties including Fannie Kate’s. It was restored as a Bed and Breakfast and Restaurant which they operated for several years. As their health declined they move to Avon Park, Florida to be close to family. Barbara is predeceased by her husbands, parents and brothers Charles and B.C. Owings, Jr.

Visitation will be held after the service at the graveside.

Mrs. Vera Gable Richey
McCormick, SC - Vera Gable Richey, 90, of McCormick, wife of the late William Henry Richey went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Self Regional Hospital, Greenwood SC surrounded by her loving family.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at First Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. John Alexander and JC Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was born in McCormick SC to the late Jefferson Augustus and Sarah Rebecca White Gable. A 1951 graduate of McCormick High School, Mrs. Richey was retired from McAllisters and Sons after many years and was a member of First Bethany Baptist Church. She was a member of the Carolina Bluegrass Cloggers, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Her memory will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Leo Gable, Harold Gable, and Lawrence Gable; and three sisters Etheleen Patterson, Janie Jennings, and Kathryn Edmonds.

Mrs. Richey is survived by a son, James Lewis Richey of McCormick, two daughters, Carolyn Crook (Lynn) of Lincolnton GA, Rachel Broome (Johnny) of McCormick SC; three sisters, Lila Holloway, Alma Palmer (Marvin), Lorene Fuller all of McCormick SC; a brother-in-law, Bobby F Edmonds of McCormick, four grandchildren, Karen Fultz, Tina Nelson, Valerie Bushmaker, Vicky Bennett; seven great-grandchildren Luke Fultz, Johnathan Nelson, Anna Ramsey, Trevor Nelson, Gavin Nelson, Natalie Bushmaker, Skyler Bennett; two Great-Great Grandchildren, Jordan Nelson and Jackson Nelson; special caregivers, Cosetta Tucker and Jody Hovis.

The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at First Bethany Baptist Church, from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the service.

Mr. Marvin R. Wideman Sr, 79, of Bluffton, SC died Monday, April 17, 2023, at Friends of Caroline in Ridgeland, SC.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the Wideman Cemetery, Wideman Cemetery Road, McCormick, SC. Pastor Barry Shepps is officiating. A reception will follow the graveside service.

Mr. Wideman was born July 7, 1943, in McCormick SC. He was a carpenter for most of his life and would attend college to become a minister. Mr. Wideman would accept Jesus as his savior while attending Buffalo Baptist Church in McCormick. He met the love of his life in McCormick, Rebecca and they remained together for the next 60 years. He served with the Atlanta Police Department while in school at Beulah Heights Bible College in Atlanta, GA. Mr. and Mrs. Wideman would later settle in Bluffton, SC after spreading the gospel across the country and raising a family. Through his life he would share his faith as a minister and friend to many. He is the son of Ollie and Ruby Wideman of McCormick, SC.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; a son, Richard; two daughters Windy and Esther; a sister Elaine. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Jane. He is the grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in the name of his great grandson Maxwell Kimberly.
