My therapist calls them "your younger parts" β€. I'm not sure why it makes me giggle π.
Healing your inner child is a very POWERFUL and very IMPORTANT part of healing and becoming whole. When we experience trauma or donβt fully process an experience as a child, we may disassociate, and part of us may get βstuckβ at that age. When we go back and address you at the age of the unprocessed experience, we are able to integrate that part of you, making you more whole.
We arenβt always aware of how these experiences at a young age can GREATLY impact us as adults. Most of our subconscious programming, dictating 90-95% how you behave, your beliefs, and the choices you make, is developed from birth (I have also heard the third trimester) until approximately seven years of age.
So, if you are aware of limiting beliefs or a negative pattern or behavior in your life, it is possible that it developed in your childhood becoming part of your subconscious programming. If you process the feelings and moment(s) in your childhood when these beliefs and programming were developed, you can process current experiences in your life with a healthy, well-adjusted inner child. This allows you to process experiences from an adult perspective utilizing the rational part of your brain. You can in turn change that limiting program to something more EMPOWERING. It can change your entire life!!
