We enjoyed an afternoon with Miss Tennessee Volunteer, Meghan Poore. She shared her pageant journey, her platform and her partnerships with the Salvation Army and St. Jude as well as explaining the 5 points on her crown. Beginning in October she’ll be visiting schools and speaking to children and we think she will be a great role model and inspiration. We wish her much success as she completes her reign and represents us in June 2026 for the title of Miss America Volunteer.

Christina Delong visited with her 5 month old standard poodle, Calvin who is in training to be a therapy dog. When a pet is undergoing training they visit places with a variety of people, various equipment, triggering stimuli, elevators and escalators. Our residents thought he was well on his way to bringing joy and comfort to the places and people he will visit once fully certified.

Lakeside residents started the day off with an outing to Mckenzies new bookstore The Book Stack for breakfast and a country drive then headed home for devotion. Lakeside is so blessed to have so many churches and pastors come monthly to provide services, Sunday School and music. On this beautiful day we opted to have a front porch devotion presented by Bro. Al Bailey. His topic was “Thrive where you are planted.” Our residents do this by staying active and involved.

Lakeside residents are happy to be partnering with First Baptist Church in making jump ropes for Operation Christmas Gift Boxes. We made 9 on our first round and waiting for our next round of supplies to show up and get back to braiding. The church goal is 300 ropes.

Kathy McGee with Baptist Hospice stopped in during a nightly skip bo game to drop off some cute heart bags, cups and suckers. Sharing lots of love with us and with their patients is what they are known for.

We celebrated National Senior citizens Day by recognizing the ages of each resident by decades and recalling iconic events that happened in the 20s, 30s, 40s 50s and 60s. We had delectable cupcakes furnished by Ella Page an 11 yr old student for community service. They were so delicious a few people had 2. We recognized our oldest resident Marjorie Evans age 98 and our youngest Julie Garner age 50. Each lady received a gift and balloon bouquet as honored guest.
