A FREE Children's Yoga Series is happening Thursday afternoons, 2-3, starting July 10th at Dream Quest Teen & Youth Center. This fun, interactive class is great for children ages 5-12.

Congratulations to the Little Buddhas Yoga trained teachers, 2024. The words “joy” and “gratitude” don’t come close to explaining how precious this training was. It is always a special experience and this group formed a connected, real, precious mandala over the course of our 20-hours together.

The LBY training ends with real life experience, as each teacher leads a practice class, usually with just a few children for each class. This year, the practice classes filled to overflowing, as the grounded energy took root and children flowed in, then stayed on their mats, class after class after class. It was incredible—but not at all if you know them—to watch the freshly trained teachers take it all in stride, with joy and ease, and lead these classes with skilled presence.

It is with great joy that I recommend these teachers to the community; with gratitude, I bow to each: Namaste, namaste, namaste.

Free children's yoga class! May 31st 6:30-7 p.m. For children ages 3-9. Location: Trillium Charter School in Arcata, CA.

Class will be observed by teacher trainees learning to bring yoga to children. Therefore, class is totally free AND your child will receive a free gift as a thanks for helping to bring more children's yoga teachers to the community (by simply attending a free 30 minute yoga class with Courtney).

Practice techniques to bring yoga to children through songs, games, storytelling, mindfulness practice, breathwork/calming techniques, and relaxation. Training also includes anatomy and safety, classroom management, class design for children ages 18 mos-12 years old, group and partner poses.

No experience necessary. This training is perfect for parents, teachers, social workers, behavioral therapists, childcare providers...all those involved in the lives of children. Bring a little love into the world: become a children's yoga teacher!

What a precious day celebrating Earth Week at Arcata Elementary School’s Environmental Fair. We practiced sun salutations, moved through a yoga story about caring for the earth, played games, and settled in with some breathwork. We closed each workshop with a mindfully made nature mandala and then, of course, stillness and the sound of the bell.

At camp this week, our theme was Spread Kindness Like Wildflowers. Not only did we tell stories about and practice spreading kindness both on and off the mat, we also literally spread kindness WITH wildflowers, making plantable paper with pollinator-friendly wildflowers—a kindness for the earth and everyone on it. Each child also made a camp shirt to spread our kindness message wherever they go!
