Our Story

In her clinical practice, Amy Kreins, PhD, delivers cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments to adult, seniors, and teens with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and adjustment problems, such as anxiety, stress, depression, and relationship problems. She tries to build on an individual's strengths and individualize therapy to each person's need. She believes that psychotherapy can help individuals most effectively use their resources to increase self-understanding, to improve decision-making, to solve problems, and to create paths to the lives they want. She also uses mindfulness training to help her clients live in the moment. Her approach is compassionate and nonjudgmental. Dr. Kreins completed her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno, CA. She completed her predoctoral internship at Virginia Tech's Cook Counseling Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at UC-Santa Cruz's Student Counseling Center. She grew up in northwest New Jersey and graduated Cum Laude, In Honors from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA in 1993 with a B.S. in Psychology. She is a member of the Collin County Psychological Association and the Dallas Psychological Association. Dr. Kreins has been worked with geriatrics in the DFW area for the last 12 years. She also has been in private practice for two years. She has taught workshops on eating disorders, body image, stress management, dementia, and depression. Amy volunteers her time at her local PTAs, supporting greyhound rescue, and her children's sporting events. Her passions include traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband and two boys.
