Self-harm is often misunderstood — it’s not about “attention” or “drama.”
It’s usually a sign of emotional overwhelm, where pain feels too big to hold.
Therapy can help uncover what’s beneath the behavior and build safer ways to cope.
If you or someone you love is struggling, reach out. You deserve care and understanding, not shame.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline for immediate support.

It’s normal to hesitate — even in therapy.
Avoidance often shows up when something feels too painful, uncertain, or vulnerable.

Here are a few ways to start the conversation:
💬 “There’s something I’ve been wanting to talk about, but it feels hard to say.”
💬 “I’m not sure how to bring this up, but it’s been on my mind.”
💬 “Can we talk about something I’ve been avoiding?”

You don’t have to have the perfect words.
Your therapist’s role is to create a space where you can explore safely — even the things that feel uncomfortable.

Avoidance can be a sign of where the healing is needed most.
When you bring it up, you open the door to relief, insight, and growth!

Safe in your mind. Steady in your body. Free to be yourself.
That’s what healing can feel like — not perfect, not linear, but possible.
It begins with safety — not just around you, but within you.
A calm mind. A grounded body. A sense that you no longer have to shrink or hide.
At our practice, we believe that true healing starts with creating safety — both internally and externally.
You are not too much.
You are not broken.
You are worthy of every step forward.
We’re here to walk with you!

Labeling your emotions and why it works:
✨ It activates the part of the brain that helps you think clearly
✨ It lowers reactivity in the nervous system

When our nervous system senses danger—whether real or perceived—it responds to protect us. These automatic reactions are known as the 4 trauma responses: fight, flight, freeze, and fawn.

None of these responses mean you’re “broken.” They’re survival strategies your body learned to keep you safe. With awareness and support, you can learn new ways to feel safe, connected, and in control.

Which response feels most familiar to you?
