You don’t stop enjoying food after surgery. You just change your relationship with it.

The biggest misconception is that everything becomes bland or restrictive. That’s not the reality.

You can still enjoy your meals but it comes down to your choices, your habits, and how you prepare your food.

This isn’t about strict dieting. It’s about consistency.

Get 85% right, and you’ll still enjoy the journey and see the results.

What you call it matters… but what it does matters more.

Bariatric. Weight loss. Metabolic.

Different names, same purpose: treating a chronic disease, not just changing a number on the scale.

This isn’t about labels.
It’s about your health, your future, and finally having a tool that works with your body, not against it.

Call it what you want.
Just don’t call it “giving up.”

Ready to see if it’s right for you? Book your consultation today.

Fridays look a little different around here. While most people are winding down… we’re just getting started in the OR.

For Dr. Peery, surgery isn’t just a job, it’s a craft. Years of training, precision, and purpose all leading to one moment… where everything changes for the patient.

Because for so many, this is the turning point.
After the diets. After the frustration. After feeling stuck.

This is where hope becomes real.
This is where the journey actually begins.

And this is why we do it.

If surgery scares you, living with obesity should scare you more.

This isn’t about weight… it’s about your life.

Bariatric surgery is one of the most studied, safest, and most effective tools we have to treat obesity and the diseases that come with it. People don’t just lose weight—they live longer, take less medication, and actually feel like themselves again.

But fear and misinformation keep too many people stuck.

The real risk? Doing nothing.

Book your consultation today and get the facts—your future is worth it.

Weight loss isn’t one size fits all.

Every patient has different health needs, goals, and starting points, and your plan should reflect that.

For some, it starts with lifestyle changes.
For others, medication.
And for many, surgery offers the most effective long-term results.

The goal isn’t to push one solution.
It’s to meet you where you are and guide you toward what actually works.

Ready to take the next step? We’re here to help.

Weight loss isn’t just about losing fat. Protecting your muscle matters too.

During weight loss, the body can lose muscle along with fat if nutrition, protein intake, and strength training aren’t part of the plan.

At Inspire Bariatrics, we focus on sustainable weight loss that protects your health and strength.

If you’re ready to explore your options, schedule a consultation with our team.

Bariatric surgery isn’t a shortcut. It’s a tool.

A tool that helps patients manage the disease of obesity and improve conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, heart disease, and joint pain.

The procedure works by helping patients feel full with smaller meals while also creating metabolic and hormonal changes that support weight loss.

But like any tool, success comes from learning how to use it.

That’s why education, preparation, and medical guidance are such an important part of the process.

If you’re considering weight loss surgery, the first step is a conversation.

Robotics changed everything.

Since 2013, Dr. Peery hasn’t performed bariatric surgery the same way. With the Da Vinci system, he gained precision, confidence, and the ability to safely treat more complex cases.

Better tools.
Better outcomes.
More options for patients.

And once the results improved?
There was no looking back.

Choosing the right surgeon for medical or surgical weight loss is one of the most important decisions in your journey.

There are a few key things patients should consider.

Experience matters. Look for a surgeon who has extensive experience treating obesity and who offers a full range of medical and surgical weight loss options, not just one or two procedures.

Comfort matters too. You should feel at ease asking questions and confident that your surgeon listens, explains clearly, and understands your goals.

And technology plays a role as well. Advanced tools, such as robotic surgery, can allow surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision and safety.

The right surgeon should combine experience, approachability, and modern technology to help support your long-term success.

Lasting weight loss isn’t about finding a shortcut.

Medications and surgery can be powerful tools, but the real transformation happens when you’re ready to change the patterns that led you there in the first place.

When the right tools meet the right mindset, that’s when real progress begins.

If you’re ready to approach weight loss differently, the team at Inspire Bariatrics is here to guide you.

Meet Dr. McCalman

I am a Bariatric and General Surgeon operating in the McKinney and Frisco areas. I am opening a Bariatric and General Surgery practice, Inspire Bariatrics. We plan to open in October. While this will be a new venture, my patients know that they will enjoy the same personal, advanced and customized approach that they have come to expect from me. After eight years of treating patients with bariatric, minimally invasive, and robotic techniques, I am looking forward to partnering with you to help you reach your goals.

DFW natives, my family and I are thankful that we get to live in such a cool area. We love the historic McKinney downtown, and the amazing shopping and sports venues in Frisco, Plano, Allen, and Dallas.

I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington. I then attended the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2007. My husband, Dave, and I then moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan where I completed an Internship and Residency with Michigan State University at Botsford Hospital in 2012. After a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, I practiced in Southeast Texas for four years. While there, I had the opportunity to serve as Bariatric Medical Director, achieving a Center of Excellence from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) of the American College of Surgeons. I was also board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, and awarded the title of Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgery. I have been practicing in the North Dallas area now for three years, and we are thankful to “put down roots.” I can’t wait to see what is in store for Inspire Bariatrics and the patients we are privileged to treat.

I live in McKinney with my husband Dave, 2 children, and our lazy rescue dog. We love to hike, bike, swim, fish, hunt, attend church, craft, read, go to the zoo, and camp-out. I am so thankful for the love and support of my family, and the fact that I get to do a job that I love every day. I get to help patients realize their dreams, enrich their lives, and achieve their goals...What a fun journey to be a part of!
