Alexandria "Poka" Cox, M.S., LCDC
Alexandria, widely recognized as Poka, is a dynamic and passionate professional in the realms of motivational speaking, coaching, and counseling. Raised in Dallas by her beloved grandmother, Poka draws much of her love, strength, and inspiration from her upbringing. Her grandmother’s nurturing influence laid the foundation for her deep commitment to helping others overcome life’s challenges.
As a certified life coach, Poka has provided coaching services through various organizations, helping individuals and companies grow, maintain balance, and achieve personal and professional goals. She has even worked with celebrities, supporting them through substance use recovery and the unique pressures of the entertainment industry. As a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Poka dedicates her life to empowering individuals to break through barriers and embrace healing, growth, and self-discovery. Her expertise spans addiction recovery, mental wellness, and emotional empowerment. Known for her compassionate counseling style, she blends empathy, active listening, and practical guidance tailored to each client’s unique journey.
Poka is the founder of A Reason to Change, a purpose-driven business inspired by her family’s experience with the criminal justice system. Through this work, she helps individuals with criminal records navigate life-changing transitions in a positive and supportive way, offering educational classes on substance use and self-development. She is also the visionary behind The Practice, a nonprofit organization focused on improving quality of life through life skills classes and community events.
Beyond her counseling and community work, Poka is a self-published author and sought-after motivational speaker. Her authentic voice and infectious energy light up stages as she speaks on overcoming adversity, personal transformation, mental health awareness, and finding purpose through struggle. Every venture she leads — and every room she enters — is touched by her unshakable belief that healing is possible and that anyone can rise above their circumstances with the right support.
She currently serves as a Substance Abuse Counselor with M.O.S.H. Counseling Services, where she continues her mission of transforming lives and inspiring lasting change. Poka's fun fact is that she went skydiving for the first time and enjoyed it!
