Craving sugar is common among people who quit alcohol. When they’re no longer getting their “sugar fix” from alcohol, they seek it elsewhere. So, with that being said, we love to have bowls of candy throughout the treatment facility to ensure they reach for candy instead of an alcoholic drink. As our Annual Gala approaches in October, we are asking for help with the silent auction. This past week we had the privilege of graduating three teens from our Intensive Outpatient Program. This is a huge accomplishment and one to be celebrated!!

At times we have clients that still have to face prison time for an offense that happened prior to their sobriety journey. This week we received this correspondence from one of those clients, which touched our hearts and reminded us yet again why treatment is so important and everyone takes something away from those meetings while creating family of choice.

Did you know this is a reason we are always looking for candy donations? BOTH alcohol and sugar stimulate dopamine release in the brain, which can lead to cravings for both substances. SO, we have candy bowls all over GTC to help with those cravings.

What a wonderful way to start the day...delivery of hot dogs, buns and chips by these little sweeties. This will provide dinner to all of our clients for a night ensuring everyone has a full belly while listening in their group session. Dinner, snacks, drinks and candy are always a welcome surprise around here. Thanks for the continued support!
