✨ Volunteer Spotlight: Scout Huffman ✨

This month, we are honored to spotlight Scout, one of our amazing Pulse and Purpose Interns! Scout has been serving with us since December during the second semester of our internship program, and she has made a meaningful impact in such a short amount of time.

This August, Scout will be heading to medical school in Knoxville, Tennessee, and we could not be more proud of her. She hopes to become a pediatrician, and if you’ve seen her interact with patients, you know that calling fits her beautifully. Through the way she cares for patients, supports our staff, and eagerly learns each day, Scout has added tremendous value to our clinic.

What stands out most is how she keeps Jesus at the center of everything she does, allowing her faith to shape the way she serves others.

💛 Scout shares:
“I have truly loved my time at CommonGood Medical. Witnessing the genuine care that the staff and volunteers show their patients has been such a gift. The Pulse and Purpose Internship has shaped my vision of the kind of physician I hope to become — one who listens intentionally, honors each person’s story, and loves patients deeply.”

Great conversations, new connections, and a shared commitment to something bigger than ourselves.

We recently gathered with members of our Host Committee to kick off the excitement for the 2026 CommonGood Benefit, and the energy in the room was inspiring. When community leaders come together with a shared belief that everyone deserves access to compassionate healthcare, meaningful change happens.

At CommonGood Medical, we believe no neighbor in Collin County should have to face a health crisis alone. Through whole-person care rooted in dignity, compassion, and hope, we are working to ensure uninsured families have access to the care they need.

The CommonGood Benefit is a night where our community comes together to make that mission possible.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of connection, generosity, and impact.

✨ Staff Spotlight: Meet Chy Goree! ✨

This March, we’re excited to highlight Chy Goree, one of our newest team members at CommonGood Medical! From day one, Chy has jumped in with warmth, enthusiasm, and a heart ready to serve.

We asked Chy a few fun questions to get to know her better:

💙 If you could describe CommonGood in one word, what would it be and why?
“Accessible — not just because of our mission to increase healthcare access, but because of the down-to-earth, unpretentious nature of the team. As a new staff member, I’ve been struck by how easy it’s been to jump on board and see how everyone’s love for Jesus leads them to serve together and welcome others.”

🥪 Favorite local lunch spot:
“The Yard! I had the Church Street Club on my first day, and it was fantastic. Everything on the menu looked great!”

🍵 Favorite clinic comfort:
“A hot tea — usually a matcha or chai latte!”

Chy, we are so grateful for the joy, faith, and heart you bring to our team. Thank you for helping make CommonGood a place that is truly accessible, welcoming, and filled with purpose. 💛

POV: Someone hands you glasses that say “Love People.” 😎

Good thing that’s exactly what we’re about.

Our annual staff retreat was full of laughs, connection, and a reminder of why we do what we do every day at CommonGood Medical.

Because at the end of the day, it really is that simple:

💙 Love People.

What happens when someone doesn’t just need medical care…
but needs someone to sit with them and pray?

As a board member and patient advocate at CommonGood Medical, Dr. Julia Blandin Wiener sits with individuals carrying worry, uncertainty, and sometimes even fear.

And what they find here is more than medical care.

They find compassion.
They find someone who listens.
They find dignity.

Dr. Wiener shared about a patient who walked in without an appointment and simply said she needed to speak to a patient advocate right away. They sat together. They talked. They prayed.

“That kind of care doesn’t just change one appointment. It changes lives.”

This is compassionate community care.

This is what strengthening families in Collin County looks like.

Join us for an unforgettable night at the 2026 CommonGood Benefit on Friday, April 17th at the McKinney Cotton Mill as we continue building the kind of community she described.

🎉 We are so proud!

Please join us in celebrating Scout on her acceptance to Lincoln Memorial University School of Medicine in Tennessee!

From serving patients with compassion during her Pulse & Purpose Gap Year to stepping boldly into the next chapter of her journey in the medical field, she has embodied what this program is all about — learning deeply, serving faithfully, and leading with heart.

Watching her grow this year has been such a gift to our team. Her kindness, dedication, and quiet strength have impacted patients and staff alike.

We cannot wait to see how the Lord will continue to guide her steps and use her to bring healing and hope to so many.

While we will certainly miss her when she finishes her Pulse & Purpose Internship, we know this is only the beginning of a beautiful calling.

Congratulations, . Your CommonGood family is cheering you on every step of the way. 💙

We are so grateful for our continued partnership with Texas Health Resources and their Mobile Mammogram Unit. 💙

Since 2019, Texas Health has faithfully served our patients by bringing breast cancer screenings directly to CommonGood Medical. With 15 appointment slots each clinic, their team creates accessible, dignified care in a place where our patients already feel safe and comfortable.

Access to preventative care can be life-changing. And when additional follow-up is needed, Texas Health ensures continued care and resources every step of the way.

As the need in our community continues to grow, we are deeply thankful for this collaboration and hopeful for even more opportunities to serve together.

Partnerships like this remove barriers and make early detection possible.

Thank you, Texas Health Resources, for standing with our patients and helping us care for the whole person.

✨ Staff Spotlight: Meet Omar Plascencia! ✨

This month, we’re excited to highlight Omar Plascencia, our wonderful Front Desk Receptionist here at CommonGood Medical. Omar is often the first face our patients see when they walk through the door, and he brings kindness, care, and purpose to every check-in.

We asked Omar a few fun questions to get to know him better:

💙 If you could describe CommonGood in one word, what would it be and why?
“Meaningful. At CommonGood Medical, we aren’t just treating symptoms, we’re caring for our neighbors. Every check-in is an opportunity to share God’s love through service and provide quality care to Collin County residents, making every moment behind the desk truly matter.”

🍣 Favorite local lunch spot:
“Koji Sushi. I especially love their fried sushi and the avocado bombs!”

🖊️ Favorite clinic comfort:
“My favorite pen. It might seem small, but having that one perfect, smooth-writing pen makes everything from check-in to paperwork feel just a little bit easier and more organized.”

Omar, thank you for the meaningful care you bring to our CommonGood family each day. Your heart for service, attention to detail, and compassion for our patients make a real difference, and we are so grateful for you. 💛

Some invitations carry weight.

We’re honored to have Alfred Morris serving as part of our Host Committee and joining us as our guest speaker for the 2026 CommonGood Benefit.

Alfred’s story is one of perseverance, faith, and gratitude. And his belief in this mission comes from understanding how powerful it is when a community steps in with compassion.

This night is not just about gathering in a beautiful space. It’s about what happens when neighbors decide no one should face a health crisis alone.

On April 17, that decision fills a room.
