🚨 A mole you’ve had for years can still be dangerous.
Dr. Moore wants you to know the signs you should never ignore. The ABCDEs of melanoma are a simple way to spot potential skin cancer early:
A – Asymmetry
One half of the mole does not match the other.
B – Border
Edges are irregular, scalloped, or poorly defined.
C – Color
Uneven color or multiple shades such as brown, black, red, white, or blue.
D – Diameter
Larger than 6 mm (about the size of a pencil eraser), though melanomas can be smaller.
E – Evolving
Any change in size, shape, color—or new symptoms like itching or bleeding.
⚠️ Important reminder: Melanoma can affect all skin types and skin tones. No one is immune, which is why regular skin checks matter.
If you notice a spot that’s new, changing, or simply looks different from the rest (“the ugly duckling”), don’t wait. Early detection saves lives.
