As “Chief Motiv8or” of the Motiv8d Trainer brand I am passionate about health, wellness, spirituality, mindfulness and giving back. My background explains the development and growth of who I am today. While I’ve worn many hats in my lifetime and am formed by more than just my professional path, this historical “about me” explains in part why I have excelled in areas of service, sales, training, coaching and promoting wellness.
My love of movement began early as an active, mid-western child growing up in the outdoors of Minnesota during the late 70s and 80s. This was a time when your parents sent you out to babysit the trees and make your own adventures with siblings, friends or (gasp!) by yourself. I grew up the youngest of five athletically inclined siblings and attended many of their sporting events (baseball, track, basketball, football, volleyball, softball, and dance). As a result, I was fortunate to be introduced to the dirty word “exercise” early and am forever grateful for this gift.
I participated in a variety of sports myself and focused on dance team throughout high school. (Go Kixters!) This provided the experience for later launching my group fitness career, BUT only after an uninspired attempt at community college and period of hopelessness. These experiences in retrospect, later developed into a profound desire to seek out my why and conquer the can’t that seeps into our minds when we allow “head trash” to sit on the brain. The not-so-distant future (1993-2000) provided opportunities for me to pursue my first certifications in various group fitness formats (aerobics, kickboxing, boot camp, aquatics, TRX and yoga).
In 2001, I became a personal trainer and recognized my interest in supporting individuals on their return to movement and greater health and wellness. Almost 20 years later, moving frequently as a military spouse, I have worked in many areas of the fitness industry with diverse population groups. [community, commercial, corporate, private, military and medical fitness]
