Join us for the first in a series of community discussions (via a webinar) about mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health within the Black community. Register for this FREE event at bit.ly/spacetodigdeep.
We will dig deeper into conversations that address the conditions of COVID-19, inequity, racism, trauma, stigma, and other factors that significantly impact the well-being of our Black community. We will also discuss what we can do, individually and collectively, to bring about meaningful and long overdue change to improve outcomes in the lives of our Black community.
This session will provide a historical and contemporary overview of how racial trauma and stigma impact the mental health and wellness of the Black community. All are invited to attend.
Our partners for this event include National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. and Fairfax County Public Schools. In Fairfax County Government the agencies include Fairfax County Health Department, Fairfax County Department of Family Services and Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services.

Are you building Love Maps with your kids?
By asking Love Maps Questions you're getting to know your child's inner psychological world. The responses that they give not only help you to stay connected as a family, but they strengthen your parent-child emotional connection as well.
For this exercise, you will want to put devices down, and limit distractions. Ask your children these questions and give them the opportunity to share how they'd respond to the question. Or you can guess at their answer first and allow them to correct or "update" you.
Don’t just be a good listener. Really pay attention. Remember what your child told you and update your Love Maps accordingly. As your child grows older, revisit these questions to add more landmarks, texture, color over time.
Start by asking the questions listed or come up with your own! Learn more about how to establish rituals of connection as a family on the Gottman Relationship Blog: https://bit.ly/3fFE602
