🎤 🥛 Got milk? Hi, I'm Mary, Director of Life Enrichment with an Artis Pass the Mic moment to share. Here at Artis of Wilmette, we're using milk to conduct a curiously colorful experiment as part of our STEM-based Power of Play programming. 🎤 Hello, I’m Mary, Director of Life Enrichment at Artis of Wilmette. I’m so excited to have The Artis Mic passed to me, because our March Power of Play theme of Curiosity is based around programming I am deeply passionate about –Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, or STEM.​​

As a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer, I’m eager to help develop programs that respect our residents’ curiosity, their senses, and their natural desire to explore. Stay tuned, I can’t wait to share these moments of discovery with you!​​

🎹 Not many people can say they provided the live entertainment for their own 102nd birthday party – Artis of Mason resident Rita can. She played the piano to the delight of her family and friends, as she has ever since she was a girl. ​​

Rita earned her Master’s Degree in music from the University of Oregon, and went on to share her talents as a music teacher, dancer and model, even drumming for the USO. ​​

Today at Artis, Rita’s life enrichment programs are centered on her love of music, puzzles, and connection with others, including regular opportunities to play the piano, sing, and socialize with her neighbors and caregivers. ​​
