Today, we join our nation in honoring the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a pivotal leader of the American civil rights movement and Nobel Peace Prize winner who advocated for people of color through nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience.

Dr. King led marches, staged protests, organized boycotts and tirelessly fought for equality in the face of great resistance and violence. Inspired by Gandhi and armed with his deep Christian faith, he continued his fight despite being jailed, abused and threatened. His tireless work gave the civil rights movement visibility and traction and helped to end legalized racial segregation and remove voting roadblocks.

When most people think of healthcare, they think of doctors. But there are people who fulfill thousands of important but less visible positions that make it possible for all of us to get the care we need to stay healthy.

That’s why we’re closing out Radiologic Technology Week with a big thank you to the imaging techs at BestMed Urgent Care. Our rad techs play an essential role in patient care, making it possible to accurately diagnose what the eye cannot see. Rad techs bring their training and compassion to bear on their brief time with patients. They not only keep patients safe while taking clear X-rays, but also help calm and reassure people who may come to us worried and in pain.

We recognize and honor the rad techs who do this vital work in all the communities we serve. You literally bring key diagnostic information to light, and our clinics would not be able to provide care for many of our neighbors without you. Thank you!

🧒 Accompany young kiddos and know where older kids are going.
✨ Add reflective tape or flashing lights to costumes so kids are visible to cars.
🔦 Send trick or treaters out with a flashlight so they can see uneven sidewalks and other hazards.
🚶 Remind children to walk, not run.
🚸 Stay on sidewalks and only cross at intersections.
🍻 Going out to scare up some grown-up fun? Please remember to designate a driver!
