Fear-based prevention messages might grab attention—but they don’t change behavior. Programs that rely on scare tactics or one-time assemblies show no long-term effect on substance use and may even reduce trust between students and adults. Real prevention empowers young people with skills, support, and follow-up—not fear.

We support approaches that strengthen—not shame—our youth. Let's go beyond ""Just Say No"" and provide prevention education that inspires and teaches decision-marking skills that have the greatest long-term impact.

According to the "Survivors and Substance Abuse" report by the Battered Women's Justice Project (BWJP) women with a recent history of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) had nearly six times the risk of problematic alcohol use compared to women with no IPV history.
