Collins River Volunteer Fire Dept 100% volunteer fire department. We are just a group of people trying to improve our community through fire prevention and protection.

Low humidity + winds + lack of rain = HIGH FIRE DANGER

The Division of Forestry is on high alert due to high fire danger across the entire state of Tennessee.

We have temporarily paused issuing burn permits, and we ask that all residents and visitors hold off on burning leaves and debris until conditions improve.

Division of Forestry crews are currently battling wildfires across the state.

Please be extra cautious to avoid accidentally sparking a blaze!

Burning restrictions are in place today and tomorrow due to elevated wildfire risk.

This means that we will not issue burn permits for debris or prescribed fires until the unsafe conditions resolve.

We ask that Tennesseans do not burn debris during this time to reduce the likelihood of a fire getting out of hand.

After all, escaped debris burns are the single largest cause of wildfires in our state.

Thanks and stay safe, Tennessee!

An important message from our friends on the north side of the county:

A message from North Warren Fire Department.

With the amount of snow that is forecasted for tomorrow we urge everyone to stay home if at all possible. Keep yourselves safe, warm, and dry. Also keep in mind these few things:

1. Keep heaters away from flammable objects.
2. Ensure propane heaters have a well ventilated exhaust area if used.
3. If you must be on the roads drive slowly and with caution.
🚨4. If you have an emergency, response times may be extended due to road conditions. We responders are no good to you if we do not arrive alive.🚨
5. Check on your neighbors if they may need assistance in this cold weather.

As always, We stand ready to serve our community should any need arise. We thank you for your support in keeping our community safe!

This Saturday, June 1st, members of Collins River Volunteer Fire Dept department will be at our Station 1 located at 2239 Beersheba Hwy from 9am to 12pm.

This event, previously held at Mt. Leo Marathon, allows subscribers to pay their dues in person. We decided to hold this event at our station this year, which is half a mile south of the Marathon station.

As of today, only 33% of residences have paid their dues for the current year. Please share this post and encourage your neighbors to pay their $40 fee. Our department is not funded by the county and our operating budget comes from people paying their yearly dues.

As a reminder-dues can be paid by cash, check, or PayPal with the link below. If you are unable to pay them in person this Saturday and want to pay in cash, please contact our Secretary at (931) 607-6694. If you would like to mail a check, please mail to:

115 PM Update for Middle Tennessee:

Early this afternoon there were scattered shower and storms across Middle Tennessee. So far we have heard about a few downed trees and some hail, but no major damage so far.

THE THREAT HAS NOT ENDED.

The atmosphere remains warm and unstable and we are looking back to our southwest for more storm development within the next couple of hours. These storms will increase in coverage and intensity as they surge northeastward into Middle Tennessee.

Additional TORNADO WATCHES are likely this afternoon and evening, especially for areas along and east of I-65. Stay weather aware!

(This image shows clouds cover with enhanced colors where storms are occurring. Note the partial clearing back to our southwest helping temperatures warm up and make the air more unstable)

**Severe Weather is expected TODAY, Tuesday April 2nd across Middle Tennessee**

All modes of severe weather are possible today! That's large hail, damaging winds of 60+ mph, tornadoes, possibly strong, and cloud-to-ground lightning.

Timing: Storms could start developing as early as 10-11 AM this morning for counties across the northwest. A broken line of strong to severe thunderstorms will come together and move across the entire Mid State through the afternoon, wrapping up around 8 PM tonight.

These storms will be moving fast, so keep your guard up today and be ready to take action if you receive a warning. Have multiple ways to receive warnings and know exactly where to go in the event you need to seek shelter.

We know this makes people nervous. Heck, we get nervous, too. The important thing to remember is to have a plan. Be prepared, not scared! Or be both. That's okay, too. Just make sure you know where to go if you need to take shelter. We will update as much as we can throughout the day, but please do not solely rely on social media to receive your warnings.

We'll get through this day together!

2 PM Monday Update: We continue to expect severe thunderstorms in Middle Tennessee on Tuesday. All types of severe weather are possible.

* Tornadoes, possibly strong
* Damaging wind gusts over 60 mph
* Large hail

Timing for greatest severe risk: 1 PM to 8 PM CDT. This is a wide window of time because there could be multiple clusters of storms through the afternoon and into the evening. We may have a better idea on exact timing for specific areas tomorrow morning, but for now we should all plan to keep our guard up for several hours.

The storms will develop and move quickly, so be prepared to act immediately if warnings are issued for your location. Now is the time to prepare. Know exactly where you will go and what to do if storms threaten your location.

The afternoon commute in Nashville and surrounding area may be impacted by storms. Be aware and consider adjusting your schedule if possible.
