It's amazing how many patients just walk over and lay down when they are ready for its relaxing effects.

Kermit update! Kermit has been working very hard to get stronger and stronger! Where he does not feel it's any fun to go swimming, the underwater treadmill has helped him gain muscle. We are still concerned about how Kermit's left leg is developing but we are still holding out hope for this little guy!

We would like to introduce everyone to Kermit!
(formally known as Frog but we thought he needed a proper frog name)
Kermit is a 14 week old kitten at has been diagnosed with "swimmer syndrome" and left at a shelter. The wonderful doctors and techs at Rivers Urgent Care wanted to give Kermit a chance so they contacted us.
Swimmer syndrome effects the tendons/ligaments at birth, in which they do not tighten correctly so it leaves puppies and kittens unable to walk properly.
Therapy is usually started at roughly 10 days old on swimmer syndrome animals and they make full recoveries then live normal lives.
Since Kermit is so much older we are hoping he can bounce back from this with some major therapy and find a loving home!
We will be posting his progress!

Underwater treadmill has a very wide range of benefits including:
Decreasing the impact on joints
Build muscle
Increase range of motion in all joints
Relax muscles

This is a fantastic option for post surgery, patients suffering with disc disease or back issues, geriatric, or overweight patients.

What is canine physical rehabilitation and who can benefit from it??
Physical rehabilitation can benefit dogs and cats that are recovering from injury or surgery, have a degenerative disease, or simply reduced mobility due to aging.

Physical rehabilitation for animals is based on principles similar to those in human physical therapy. Human physical therapy has been recommended for patients to manage chronic pain, improve recovery from injuries/surgeries and neurological disorders.

Our dogs and cats suffer from similar conditions and rehab can help return them to comfortable movement and function sooner!
