HELP WANTED!! (Wasilla,AK)
MacGregor Care Services Wasilla is looking to expand our team. We are looking to fill a few positions. Previous experience as an in-home caregiver, direct support professional (DSP), or healthcare worker preferred; however, we are willing to provide training to the right candidate. This position provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position will involve teaching clients self-care skills, assisting clients with daily tasks, cooking meals, doing laundry, and maintaining a clean & safe environment for the clients.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assists clients with personal care tasks, including: assistance with basic personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, toileting, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks
• Performs home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and washing dishes
• Plans & documents meals,prepares & serves food/meals, assists with feeding (if necessary), and clean-up
• Reminds & assists clients with self-administration of medications (with proper training)
• Documents administration of any controlled substance medications via the applicable form
• Documents services & medications provided to clients via Therap within the allotted timeframe established by administrators & supervisors
• Arranges for & documents the safe disposal of any medications, as necessary
• Helps plan client appointments and organizing schedules
• Organizes transportation arrangements to appointments
• Reports changes in client’s condition, family situation, or medication errors to administrators & supervisors
• Answers house phone & ensures professional communication with administrators, supervisors, licensing agencies, care coordinators, guardians, medical professionals, and any other party that may contact the company
• Ensures client safety and maintaining a safe environment
• Encourages self-help activities
• Fosters positive relationships between caretakers and individuals served
• Reports any instances of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation
• Other duties as assigned
The following is required for all candidates:
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Current CPR & First Aid Training
• Current proof of a negative TB test (initial TB tests are good for 1 year)
• Pass a background check
• Communication skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
• Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including: bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time
• Willing to be on call (to assist with any coverage needs)
• Be a team player
Both day & night shift schedules available. There are two 8-hour day shift schedules (8am - 4pm & 4pm - 12am), one 6-hour day shift schedule (10am – 4pm), and one 8-hour night shift schedule (12am - 8am).
