🍽️ “Appropriate nutrition plays a huge role in both initial and long-term success for individuals who are using weight loss injectable medications. New research is finding that without specific nutrition goals being met, a person’s metabolism can slow down and make weight loss even harder to achieve. Managing and minimizing gastric side effects is also a common goal for GLP-1 users.”

🥩 🏋️ You’ve probably heard the buzz about GLP-1 medications being used for weight loss, but that doesn’t mean that sound nutritional practices become any less important. In fact, it’s quite the opposite!

👇 Registered dietitians Bethany Say, RD, LDN, CDCES and Stefanie Arblaster, MHSc, RD, LDN co-authored this new wellness post that explains the role of nutrition with GLP-1 injectable weight loss medications.

November is ! 🚽 The Urology Care Foundation wants to “flush out the myths” around bladder health. Here’s another pervasive bladder health myth:

Myth #2: 🩸 "Blood in your urine is probably nothing to worry about—it’s normal after exercise or if you’re dehydrated."

Blood in the urine is NEVER normal! 😳 While urinary-tract infections (UTIs) or kidney stones can cause this, blood in the urine is also a common early symptom of bladder cancer. Even if it happens once or seems to go away, it should always be checked by a healthcare provider.

👉 If you notice blood in your urine, see a doctor as soon as you can to be evaluated!

Today is World Pneumonia Day, a reminder that this infection of the lungs is still a major cause of death in particular for the elderly, the very young, and those with chronic health conditions! 👶👵

🫁 Sixty percent of all child pneumonia deaths around the world are attributable to malnutrition, and more than one in four pneumonia deaths among adults aged over 70 are attributable to air pollution and smoking.

🧼 Preventing pneumonia means taking steps to prevent most infections in general: improve air quality, stop smoking, practice good hygiene, especially when washing hands, and yes — vaccines have been proven to be highly effective in preventing pneumonia too!
