💙🧡 For Denise George, who worked in housekeeping at MMC and then went on to a career in early childhood education, the dream of becoming a nurse never went away.

When the Institute for Healthcare Professionals was formed and began recruiting students for its practical nursing program, she realized it was time to follow that dream! 🙌 Along the way, she’s discovered more about her own talents and abilities, and created a work-life balance thanks in part to the program’s flexibility with developing a work schedule that still allows her time to study:

🩺 “It’s a challenge, but at the same time…it’s an amazing thought to know I’m going to make a difference in patients’ lives.”

August is gastroparesis awareness month. 😣 Gastroparesis is a GI condition (specifically, a motility disorder, or problems with the muscles and nerves of the digestive tract) that is not well known or understood, but the number of people it affects appears to be rising, according to IFFGD.

Symptoms of include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and discomfort, stomach fullness as well as many others. Gastroparesis is a long-term condition that can impair the quality of life and well-being for patients, and impacts the relationships in the classroom, workplace, and social interactions with others.
