The Franklin County Memorial Hospital (FCMH) is a 25 bed critical access hospital located in Meadville, Mississippi. Our list of comprehensive services includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy and a 24 hour emergency department. Unique to Mississippi and our neighboring states, we also have a very successful ventilator/tracheostomy weaning program. We wo

rk closely with our referral hospitals, both acute and long term acute care, to wean patients off ventilators. We have developed a very cohesive team approach to healthcare at FCMH. Our physicians meet daily with all clinical department heads to review our patient's needs and their individual treatment plans. Our nurses work closely with the patients and families to meet all expectations. Our ancillary services (Certified Nursing Assistants, Dietary, Maintenance and Environmental Services) are considered an integral part of our healthcare team. We also have excellent Case Management and Social Work services available at FCMH. Both disciplines work closely with our physicians the help expedite all necessary plans for our patients while in the hospital and post discharge. FCMH has full service laboratory and radiology services. We also have the Family Medical Group on our campus, providing clinical services to thousands of area residents. We have a team of physicians and nurse practitioners working to provide the best patient care in Southwest Mississippi. Make sure your child’s immunizations are up to date before the first day of school. Family Medical Group in Meadville has you covered — from Pre-K to college students.

✅ Appointments are required, so call soon to get scheduled in July.
✅ We accept all insurances and also provide immunizations for uninsured children.

June is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

If you or someone you love has been affected by Alzheimer’s, please know you’re in our thoughts. This disease touches more than just the person diagnosed—it impacts the entire family. But there is always hope. Medicine and technology are advancing every day.

Keeping up with wellness visits and maintaining updated medical records with your primary care provider can make a big difference. This helps track changes and establish a baseline—especially if you have a family history. Early detection is key to slowing the progression.

Here are a few early signs to be mindful of:
• Memory loss that disrupts daily life
• Difficulty completing familiar tasks
• Confusion with time or place
• Trouble following conversations
• Misplacing things and being unable to retrace steps

These signs do not diagnose Alzheimer’s. They could also point to other health concerns. Please speak with a healthcare provider if you notice changes—never self-diagnose.

We’re excited to welcome our three summer nursing interns to Franklin County Memorial Hospital! This paid internship program gives nursing students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience alongside our incredible nurses, respiratory staff, doctors, and nurse practitioners.

Our hospital is a true gem, offering real-world training in areas that nursing students might not otherwise get to explore. Huge thanks to our amazing preceptors for helping guide and mentor the next generation of nurses.
