This is week. 🤍 Birth trauma could be a number of things that a child, woman giving birth, or even a partner experiences (or witnesses) and continues to relive as a result of post-traumatic stress (PTSD). Some examples of birth trauma include an emergency C-section, a postpartum hemorrhage, and even an injured or stillborn baby.

😔 Trauma is subjective, and the mental side-effects may linger long after the physical ones have been treated and healed.

A great resource for birthing trauma at MMC would be the services of Dr. Taylor Shank, who specializes in . 💚 In this clip, she talks in particular about grief and why sometimes couples may run into conflicts when grieving.

☎️ If you think you or a loved one needs the services of Dr. Shank, call MOGA at: 814-333-5888.

Don't forget: Family Planning Services at MMC's Alden Street Facility offers free period products! 🩸 The only requirements are to be a resident of Pennsylvania and fill out a small amount of paperwork! Find more information at: www.mmchs.org/family-planning.

No student should have to miss class due to a lack of basic necessities. Yet, 1 in 4 students struggle to afford menstrual products (State of the Period 2023, Period. Inc.), and less than half of all U.S. states have passed legislation to fund or require free period products in bathrooms.

Every student deserves access to the basic material necessities they need to thrive.🎒🩸
