🩵 As January, , winds down, don’t forget that this form of cancer is highly preventable!

🩸 Regular screenings are incredibly important. If you’re experiencing abnormal bleeding, discharge that is watery and/or has a bad odor, heavier or longer menstrual cycles, pelvic pain — any combination of these — consult with a gynecologist or primary care provider ASAP!

💉 Also ask if the HPV vaccine is right for you. More than 9 in 10 cervical cancers are linked to HPV infections. Boys and young men are eligible for this vaccine too!

January is Thyroid Awareness Month! 🦋 The thyroid gland is located in the neck and produces hormones which help the body use energy, stay warm and keep the brain, heart, muscles, and other organs working normally. American Thyroid Association

🥱Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland is underactive and doesn't make enough thyroid hormones. The most common cause of it is an autoimmune disorder known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

🤰 Hypothyroidism can occur early in pregnancy, even in women without previous thyroid problems. Severe hypothyroidism has been associated with pre-eclampsia, placental abnormalities, low birth weight infants, postpartum hemorrhage (bleeding), and impaired intellectual development in the child.

🩺 If you have any concerns about your thyroid, especially if you are pregnant or are trying to conceive, talk to your provider!
