At Hospice of Crawford County, we believe in creating memories and meaningful experiences for every person we serve. We see the whole person, their story, their spirit, their joy, not just a diagnosis. 💙

Today, bringing a Casino Day to the Marquette Hospice House filled the great room with laughter, smiles, and moments we will cherish forever. 🎲❤️ Special thanks to Elvis, Jim Crisswell 🎤

We will never take for granted the privilege of walking beside our patients and their loved ones. These moments matter, and we are honored to share them.

National Hospice & Palliative Care Month Spotlight: Audra, LPN

Since joining Hospice of Crawford County on October 1, 2018, Audra has brought compassion, strength, and a deep sense of purpose to every patient and family she serves. Her commitment is rooted in a simple but powerful belief:

“Live every day like it’s your last because no one is promised tomorrow.”

Audra lives that motto wholeheartedly. When she is not caring for patients, she is serving her community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. She loves spending time with her family and friends who hold a special place in her heart. She enjoys the peaceful thrill of kayaking, traveling, and camping. And of course, her loyal dog, Marley Mae, is the center of her world. 💙

Whether she’s supporting a patient, comforting a family, responding to an emergency, or showing up for the people she loves most, Audra gives her whole heart. Her ability to care for both patients and their families make her an extraordinary part of our hospice team.

💙 Thank you, Audra, for the many ways you make a difference every single day.

Celebrating Katie, CRNP

Katie began her nursing career in May 2009, spending the last 16 years providing compassionate bedside care. Her deep passion for connecting with patients, listening to their stories, and providing comfort inspired her to pursue advanced practice as a Nurse Practitioner. Katie’s calm presence, empathy, and commitment to easing suffering make her a perfect fit for our hospice team.

Katie comes from a large, blended family of 17, where life is wonderfully loud, chaotic, and filled with love. She has been married to her husband, Jason, for 14 years, and together they have rescued 14 dogs over the years. Today, their household is happily shared with 8 dogs and 2 cats, creating a lively, joy-filled environment.

Katie joined Hospice of Crawford County in December 2024, and we are truly grateful for her heart, dedication, and the gentle compassion she brings to every patient and family she serves.💙

🌟 Happy Nurse Practitioner Week to Lori, CRNP! 🌟

We are honored to wrap up this week celebrating the dedication, compassion, and clinical excellence of Lori, CRNP, who has been a vital part of our Hospice of Crawford County family for many years.

Lori began her journey with us as a Hospice RN from 2011–2015, and since 2016, she has continued her incredible work as a Hospice CRNP, touching countless lives with her skill, heart, and commitment to compassionate care.

Fun Facts About Lori:
When she’s not caring for patients and supporting families, Lori loves spending time with her family, cheering on the Steelers, golfing, pool time, and playing pickleball. She is also lovingly “managed” by her two cats who insist on waking her up at 3 AM.
She enjoys all the delicious meals cooked by her husband (“way too much!”), relaxing with a cold beverage, and embracing each day through the love and grace of God.

Lori says she feels blessed to have worked with so many incredible people throughout her career while striving to make a difference in the lives of others, and we feel just as blessed to have her on our team. 💛

Thank you, Lori for everything you do! We wish you a wonderful Nurse Practitioner Week! 💙👏

Team Member Spotlight: Ashley

Today we shine our spotlight on Ashley, one of our hospice Social Workers who goes above and beyond to support patients and families with kindness and understanding. Ashley has been with Hospice of Crawford County since February of 2020.

Before joining hospice care, Ashley began working at just 14 years old. Many in the Linesville and surrounding communities may remember her from Al’s Melons, where she worked for nine years. From baking homemade pies and breads to serving friendly smiles, Ashley’s caring spirit has always been a part of who she is.

When she’s not helping families navigate their hospice journey, Ashley loves expressing her creativity through crafting and home renovation projects. Most importantly, she’s a proud mom of three beautiful children who are her greatest joy and motivation.

Ashley, thank you for bringing your warmth, creativity, and dedication to everything you do. You truly embody our belief that hospice care is about seeing and honoring the whole person.💙

Honoring Our Veterans 🇺🇸 Today and Every Day!

This Veterans Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served our nation with courage, sacrifice, and dedication. To all who have served: we thank you.

At Hospice of Crawford County, we are privileged to care for many veterans and their families, seeing not only their service, but the whole person behind the uniform. We ensure that every veteran receives compassionate, dignified care that recognizes their unique experiences and honors their life story.

During National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, and every day, our mission remains the same: to see the whole you!

National Hospice & Palliative Care Month Employee Spotlight!

Meet Corey, RN, one of the compassionate hearts behind the care we provide every day. Corey joined Hospice of Crawford County in April 2023, and since then, he’s been making a difference through his kindness, dedication, and exceptional care for our patients and families. 💙

But there’s so much more to Corey than his stethoscope!

Fun fact: He shares his home with five miniature dachshunds, Peter, Pepper, Piper, Peanut, and Pumpkin, and one very wise old cat named Esmerelda.

When he’s not caring for patients, Corey channels his creativity as the owner of French Creek Framing & Fine Art right here in Meadville!

We are so grateful for Corey’s caring spirit and the unique talents he brings to our hospice family. 💙

🌟What is HOSPICE and PALLIATIVE CARE?🌟

All hospice care is palliative care but not all palliative care is hospice care.

Palliative care is specialized medical support for people living with serious illnesses like cancer, heart failure, Parkinson’s disease, or COPD. Its focus is on symptom relief, emotional support, and quality of life regardless of life expectancy or ongoing treatments. It's central to hospice care. But it’s also used in many other contexts such as during chemotherapy, after major surgeries, or alongside long-term treatments for chronic conditions when symptom control and support are needed.

Hospice care is intended for patients with a terminal diagnosis and a physician's estimate of six months or less to live. It begins when curative treatments are no longer effective or desired, shifting fully to comfort care and comprehensive family support during the final stage of life.

Whichever path of care you choose, our Hospice of Crawford County team is dedicated to caring for the whole person not
just the illness. We See The Whole YOU!💙
