Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) gives individuals another way to express their wants, needs, thoughts, and ideas. This can look different for every individual, whether it’s a device, pictures, or other personalized tools. Our speech therapists play a key role in evaluating, recommending, and teaching families how to use AAC in meaningful ways!

May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, and we’re so excited to celebrate the incredible impact of speech-language pathologists (SLPs)!🗣️💙

Speech therapy supports children in developing the skills they need to communicate effectively, including speech sounds, language, social communication, and feeding/swallowing skills. Through play-based, individualized therapy, SLPs help children build confidence and connect with the world around them.

As we get ready to reach the end of Occupational Therapy month, we want to introduce and give a huge shoutout to one of our outstanding OTs AND supervisor, Sarah Terry!🥰

Sarah has been an occupational therapist for 18 years and says her favorite part of being an OT is getting to know her clients and their family members, and seeing kids achieve their goals and gain independence.

Sarah is also a board certified Hippotherapy Clinical Specialist and enjoys incorporating horses and the equine environment within her practice. She enjoys the outdoors and even does horseback riding in her free time!🐴

Handwriting starts BEFORE the pencil!✏️

In Occupational Therapy, we focus on building the hand skills kids need before writing, like strength, coordination, and control.

Key foundations:
✨Grasp development: from whole hand to tripod grasp (around 4–5 years)
✨Fine motor skills: thumb strength, finger isolation, hand stability
✨Sensory feedback: helps control pressure and form letters

📈Development:
•1–2 yrs: scribbling
•2–3 yrs: lines & circles
•3–4 yrs: shapes, early grasp
•4–5 yrs: more controlled writing

🧸Best way to build these skills? PLAY: playdough, scissors, picking up small objects, coloring, chalk

Without these building blocks, handwriting can be tough, but the right support makes all the difference!

At Clear Path, our OTs use play-based activities to strengthen these skills and set kids up for success🤍

Thank you for everyone who participated in our Party for Penny Last week! We had so many clients, staff, and community members come out and support Radiant Hope and honor sweet Penny.

Thank you to .light.coffeeco and to Penny’s friends and family for giving us the opportunity to celebrate Penny and spread her joy throughout our clinic. We are lucky to continue her story and give back to other children and families in her honor🫶

From our latte purchases and donations from the community, we were able to donate $243 to Radiant Hope and support other families facing childhood cancer.

This community is AMAZING and we could not do any of this without the love and support of our family and friends!

Join us on Thursday morning at 10:30 for a fun, drop-in play session for babies & toddlers! Enjoy use of our sensory gym and equipment and let your little ones burn off some energy in a safe, engaging space!

There is no structured class or therapy component, so your child can explore and play at their own pace🫶

Meet another one of our fabulous OTs, Abbie Houck!🙌

Abbie fell in love with OT for the flexibility, creativity, and broad scope of practice! She loves being creative and meeting her client’s needs in a “FUNctional” way!

Outside of work, you can find Abbie outside being active in nature, or at home making goods from scratch!🍞

Abbie wants more people to know all of the amazing ways OTs can help, including how OTs can work on interoception and toileting!
