We are saddened to share the news of the passing of our colleague, Dr. Virginia Hall.

Virginia “Ginny” E. Hall, MD, FACOG, FACP, FCPP was a double board-certified physician in internal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Hall’s career has been marked by her unwavering commitment to improving women’s health care in underserved regions and the thoughtfulness in her care for others.

On top of her tenure with The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (24 years as trustee; 9 years as Board Chair), Dr. Hall served as the Dauphin County Medical Society President, Delegate to the AMA for the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and Reference Committee Chair for the American Medical Association among a host of many other important positions throughout the years.

She exemplified the very best of her profession and our Foundation’s values.

2016 was a pretty good year as far as our history goes, so if 2016 is the new 2026, count us in!

What were we up to back then? Well, in 2016 the LifeGuard Program was re-established with The Foundation and has been steadily expanding its reach since; we modernized our PHP Logo; we named a new Chair of our Board of Trustees, Virginia E. Hall, MD; the first Blair County Medical Society scholarship was awarded through The Foundation; and, after successfully completing the rigorous Standards for Excellence program, we became accredited through the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Associations' Seal of Excellence.

We're glad to be here, still serving our Pennsylvania medical community.

The fight for physician wellness extends past Pennsylvania, and we're proud of the ways our practitioners engage in making moves for change.

This January, Edwin Kim, MD, FAPA, one of our Medical Directors for the Pennsylvania Physician Health Program and FSPHP President-Elect, testified before Wisconsin lawmakers in support of Assembly Bill 799 - a bill to create the Wisconsin Health Professional Assistance Program (HPAP).

Dr. Dende says, "Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside many remarkable Board members to whom I am indebted for their wisdom and patient guidance.

I want to give special thanks to Heather Wilson and her outstanding team, as well as PHP Medical Director and former Board Chair Dr. Ray Truex. Their dedication and creativity are what make the Foundation not just successful, but truly exceptional, and I’m excited for all that we will accomplish together in the years ahead!"
