Education Resources, Inc.

Education Resources, Inc. Life-changing learning for therapists by therapists. Continuing education courses for OTs, PTs and SLPs. We remind you why you love what you do! We have grown.

Founded in 1985 by two practicing therapists Barbara Goldfarb and Carol Loria, ERI’s mission is to provide continuing education that can truly make a difference for therapists and their patients. As therapists themselves, they are committed to assuring class participants learn effective techniques and critical problem solving skills that can be immediately applied in the work setting. The idea of

Education Resources came to us over dinner one night just 25 years ago. We met in graduate school at Sargent College at Boston University, became fast friends and following graduation, did collaborative research between our respective facilities. We founded a journal club to help us stay current in our ever-evolving field, and this group has been meeting monthly for nearly 30 years. One night, while we were out on maternity leave, we talked about our dream of starting a company to provide the kinds of continuing education that could really make a difference for therapists and their patients. By the time we hit dessert, we were in, excited, and ready to roll up our sleeves. Little did we know how going out on maternity leave would change our lives in so many ways. Initially we taught all the courses which focused on treating the child with cerebral palsy. We answered the phones, did our own bulk mailing, and our office fit into two briefcases that were shuttled between our houses. Clearly, Education Resources has grown over the years, at the same rate as our children who are now in graduate school themselves. We continue to strive to develop and offer courses that really make a difference in the lives of the children you treat. Our office is staffed by 11 caring, dedicated professionals, and we now offer courses for PTs, OTs, SLPs, educators and others throughout the country. We are always available to help you plan your professional development and to choose courses to help you achieve your goals. Carol Loria

🎉 𝗪𝗼𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗼!! 🎉

ERI is a proud professional partner of the National Association of Neonatal Therapists (NANT)! 💙

NANT recently hosted their 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘥-𝘰𝘶𝘵 annual conference in Texas, bringing together neonatal therapists from across the country for several inspiring days of education, connection and shared passion for this incredible field.

Partnering with NANT motivates us even more to support this dedicated community by providing the tools and resources needed to grow professional skills and make an even greater impact. As part of the conference, ERI was thrilled to raffle off a 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 to one lucky attendee! 🎁

🦶 𝗧𝗼𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗔 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲-𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵
As PTs and OTs, we know toe walking isn’t just a diagnosis—it’s a clue. That’s why the 𝗔𝗖𝗧! 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 (𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴) matters. ACT! helps clinicians move beyond “idiopathic” and systematically assess why a child toe walks by examining multiple systems:

🔍 ACT! looks at:
• Musculoskeletal factors (ROM, strength, motor control)
• Neuromotor considerations
• Sensory processing & regulation
• Vision integration
• Mixed contributors (because it’s rarely just one thing)

Instead of defaulting to stretching, cueing, or external supports, ACT! guides us to match intervention to etiology—not just presentation.👣

📣 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝗖𝗧! 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲
Don’t miss your chance to learn from Liesa Ritchie Persaud, PT, DPT — who developed the ACT! tool and has long been an expert instructor in toe-walking evaluation and intervention.

🍼 Feeding is one of the most complex skills a child learns—and for many, it’s not easy.

Pediatric Feeding Disorder affects 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟯𝟳 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 under age five, often impacting growth, development, and family routines. Supporting these children requires more than one perspective.

In our latest blog, we explore 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 and how SLPs, OTs, and PTs each play a critical role in helping infants and children develop safe, positive feeding skills.

It’s associated with asymmetrical movement patterns, delayed midline control, rolling preferences, and crawling asymmetries. It can also affect vision and the vestibular system.

Torticollis is one of the most common musculoskeletal conditions seen in babies. It affects about 0.3–2% of infants.

Up to 90% of infants with torticollis also show some degree of positional head flattening.

Early therapy works incredibly well. When intervention starts before 3 months of age, 90–95% of infants achieve full resolution without surgery.
