Introducing...Loonie Louie, formerly known as Ludacris!

He is our new mascot at Hartford Animal Hospital! Loonie Louie is a wonderful young boy who just happens to enjoy urinating on upholstered furniture. Fortunately we don't have any of that here so he uses his litter box like a good kitty.

Here's an important lesson on pet dental health from my own dog Banzai.
He is 12 and has the typical heart disease that older small breed dogs develop (valvular insufficiency) so I delayed his dental cleaning until he was stable on his meds.
As the pictures before and after his dental cleaning reveal, a tooth can be in really bad shape under all the crud (the technical term is calculus).
That is why we vets always recommend a thorough dental exam and cleaning, with extractions as needed, under anesthesia as soon as pets can be stabilized with any pre-existing conditions they have.
Today Banzai feels better than ever!

I want to let my clients know about the new injectable treatments for dogs and cats with osteoarthritis pain.

The drugs are Solensia for cats and Librela for dogs. Both are indicated for pain, not inflammation or neurologic dysfunction.

I have my own oldest cat and arthritic dog on these treatments and both have improved incredibly. Their responses to the injections were rapid, within 24 hours. Not all my treated patients have responded as quickly or as well as my own cat and dog, but I have not seen any serious or lasting adverse effects.

Any of my clients with cats or dogs who are experiencing arthritis pain and are not responding favorably to traditional pain medications such as gabapentin or NSAIDs (such as carprofen, meloxicam, etc.) should come in to discuss these new, very effective treatments.
