After wisdom teeth removal, eating the right foods can help you stay comfortable, heal faster, and maintain your strength.

💧 Stay Hydrated

It’s important to drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.

- Choose cool or lukewarm liquids for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid hot drinks (they can increase bleeding).
- Do not use a straw for the first 72 hours—this can dislodge the healing clot.

🍽️ Soft Foods That Are Easy to Eat

Stick with soft, smooth foods that require little or no chewing, especially during the first few days after surgery. As you begin to feel more comfortable, you can gradually return to your normal diet.

- Yogurt (without fruit chunks)
- Applesauce
- Scrambled eggs
- Protein shakes (use a spoon, not a straw)
- Soft noodles or pasta
- Mashed potatoes
- Refried beans
- Pancakes
- Jell-O or pudding
- Cottage cheese
- Cream of wheat or oatmeal (not hot)

🥗 As You Heal

- Add in more soft, nutritious foods as you’re able to chew comfortably.
- Continue avoiding crunchy, hard, or spicy foods until your mouth feels ready.
- Remember: you’ll heal faster and feel stronger if you keep up good nutrition and hydration.

❓When to Call Your Oral Surgeon

Typical recovery time is 5-7 days, with pain and swelling peaking on day 3. If you experience prolonged pain, swelling, or bleeding, contact our office right away. Our team is here to ensure your recovery is as smooth and comfortable as possible.
