NURSEMAID’S ELBOW | Nursemaid's elbow occurs when a child's elbow joint partially dislocates, often from pulling or yanking on their arm—or from something as innocent as swinging them around by their arms—causing the ligaments around the elbow to slip. It's common in children ages 1 – 4 and can cause discomfort and limited arm movement.

If a child suddenly avoids using their arm, keeps it close to their body, or shows signs of discomfort when trying to move it, nursemaid's elbow could be the culprit. The affected arm may appear slightly bent, and the child may be hesitant to straighten it.

We believe in the power of prevention. Educating parents, caregivers, and even older siblings about the risks and how to handle a child's arm safely can help reduce the likelihood of nursemaid's elbow.

If you or a loved one is suffering from an elbow injury or condition, request an appointment with one of our elbow experts!
