Small actions make a big impact. Let’s take care of our Earth, because there’s no Planet B 🌱💙

🌿 Plant a tree or start a garden – bring more green into your world! ♻️ Go plastic-free for the day – opt for reusable bags, bottles, and containers. 🌊 Clean up a local park, beach, or trail – help keep our surroundings beautiful. 💡 Switch off unnecessary lights – conserve energy and reduce your carbon footprint.🚶‍♂️Walk, bike, or carpool – reduce emissions while enjoying the outdoors. 🌳 Or just get outdoors for a few deep breaths!
Remember, every little action counts! Let's come together to protect and preserve our beautiful planet for future generations. 🌏💪

Cases of whooping cough are rising not only on Long Island but across the United States. Allied Physicians Group pediatrician, Dr. Eric Levene even stresses the severity of the illness to Newsday, “It can last for weeks on end, even with treatment” and also states that the disease, known as pertussis, is sometimes called "the 100-day cough.” With cases increasing rapidly, you might be wondering how you can protect yourself and your family. Doctors say vaccinations and boosters are key to avoiding serious illness from whooping cough. To learn more about whooping cough, visit https://bit.ly/4h8xh80. Any time spent outside exposes you to the sun. The sun's rays are good for us and our bodies in small doses. They provide us with Vitamin D which helps us absorb calcium, a vital nutrient needed for healthy bones. On the other hand, excess sun exposure can be harmful. Too much sun can lead to,
☀️ Skin changes- these include freckles and moles.
☀️ Sunburn- red painful skin that can be itchy, and tight and lead to dehydration and peeling.
☀️ Lowered immune system- white blood cells are used to create new skin cells when you have sunburn, this can lead to a weakened immune system.
☀️ Eye injuries- UV rays can damage the tissue in your eyes, burn your cornea, and blur your vision.
☀️ Skin cancer- too much exposure can lead to skin cancer, which can also spread to other parts of the body.
For these reasons and many others, it is important that before you and your family spend any time in the sun, you apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and continue to reapply every 2 hours as long as you are out.
