Continuum is excited and honored to receive a $7,500 award from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation (CCUIF) to help purchase a vehicle for our HOME Program.

This support will improve access and mobility for outreach and housing-focused services for our HOME Program clients (moms) here in the Rogue Valley. We’re truly grateful to CCUIF for investing in stronger, healthier communities and for helping make this work possible. Thank you, Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians.

Board Spotlight: Bryon Lambert, President-Elect

We’re honored to feature a video spotlight on Bryon Lambert, our Board President-Elect, and a dedicated leader whose work has helped strengthen equity-focused systems and community health across Southern Oregon.

Bryon was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, before he and his family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1997. He currently serves as the Community Building Director at La Clinica, is an advisor to the Cross Cultural Health Care Program, and previously served as a Health Equity Advisor for Jackson Care Connect. Bryon also volunteers as the co-chair of the Health Equity Committee of the Oregon Health Policy Board at the Oregon Health Authority.

Bryon brings together his background in communications, public radio broadcasting, and healthcare leadership to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts that engage and inspire, without blame, shame, or debate.

Outside of work, Bryon enjoys spending time with his wife, their adult children, grandchildren, and their dog, Ephraim. He also loves playing bass and acoustic guitar with friends.

In the video below, Bryon shares his reflections on Continuum’s work and new name. As he shares:

“My personal and professional focus on justice drew me to Continuum, because everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their culture, belief systems, or socio-economic status.”

We’re grateful for Bryon’s leadership, perspective, and the vision he brings to Continuum as President-Elect. 💙

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH IN SOUTHERN OREGON

Across our region, behavioral health needs continue to rise—impacting individuals, families, healthcare systems, and the stability of our communities.

What the data is telling us:

📊51% of overdose deaths in Oregon involved opioids combined with stimulants in 2024. https://oregoninjurydata.shinyapps.io/overdose/

📊9,704 overdose-related emergency department visits were recorded in 2024—adding pressure to already-strained systems.

📊1,833 lives were lost in 2023, and the crisis continues to affect every corner of the state. https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/ORHA/bulletins/3c70fdd

📊Workforce shortages and uneven access to providers remain a major barrier—especially outside urban areas.https://health.oregonstate.edu/sites/health.oregonstate.edu/files/2025-01/2025-oregon-health-care-workforce-needs-assessment-report.pdf

📊Economic stress increases vulnerability and impacts recovery: 43% of Jackson County households and about 47% of Josephine County households face financial hardship. https://accesshelps.org/wp-content/uploads/ACCESS-2025-CNA-Final-Revised-9.17.25.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Behind every number is a person—a neighbor, a parent, a friend—trying to carry something heavy and find a way forward.

James’ journey began in a hospital bed.

His heart was failing. He could barely breathe, and walking felt impossible. He didn’t know what would come next—or if he even had a future.

While he was still in the hospital, James was connected with recovery services in our community and told: “If you’re willing to try something different, show up when you get out and we’ll help set you on the path to recovery.” For the first time in a long time, someone believed there was another way forward.

When James left the hospital, he was placed in Continuum’s Emergency Lodging. He shares that without safe housing and support, he knows he would have ended up back on the street. Having a stable place to stay gave him the chance to slow down and focus on recovery.

From there, James moved forward into residential treatment, and then transitional housing.

Today, James has been clean and sober for nearly 18 months. He works as a house mentor at one of Continuum’s transitional houses, has completed peer support training, and has reconnected with his family. For the first time in 40 years, he says his life has purpose—because he had a safe place to go when he left the hospital.

Help us create more stories like James’.

This winter, recovery can’t wait.

Across Southern Oregon, individuals and families are facing rising costs, limited access to behavioral health treatment, and unstable housing—often all at once. At Continuum, we meet people in those moments with dignity, evidence-based treatment, and support that lasts.

Last year alone, more than 2,700 people turned to Continuum for help. For many, Emergency Lodging is the first safe night after leaving the hospital—and the bridge into recovery.

💙 Your gift helps provide:
• Access to behavioral health treatment
• Safe, stable housing while people wait for services
• Recovery support that helps individuals and families rebuild

While this appeal began as part of our year-end campaign, we are continuing our outreach into the new year to reach our $30,000 goal—because the need remains urgent.
