This month, Cabana Apartments celebrates 10 years of changing people's lives!

Cabana Apartments is an integrated housing complex, located in Eugene, OR, with 4 units dedicated to individuals living with mental illness. Cabana offers permanent or transitional housing units that enable individuals to attain and maintain affordable housing within the community. Support services are offered to tenants and are available as needed or desired. ColumbiaCare is a mental-health friendly landlord and does not reject individuals for placement due to medical needs or substance abuse history. Non-mental health units are rented as affordable housing to the general public.

A Huge Thank You to for donating to our Veterans Resource Center Emergency Fund!

EFA funds are used to provide one-time financial assistance for Military Members experiencing a barrier to enter or sustain permanent housing, inpatient rehabilitation, transitional residential programs, or shelters. Once all support programs have been exhausted, the EFA funds can be approved for the use of overcoming those barriers. Substantial donations allow our Veterans Services Program to open up those funds to further help the Veterans we serve.

We greatly appreciate all of those in the community who support our programs in any way they can!

A mental health affirmation for when your feelings are large and overwhelming.

At ColumbiaCare, we believe it's important to share client stories as a way to celebrate the important work happening at each of our programs. Here is a story from a Secure Residential Treatment Facility.

A client admitted under aid and assist orders presented with high anxiety, paranoia, and agitation. They began to isolate at all times. The program implemented an incentive program to reward residents with personal outings when they regularly engage in legal skills and therapy groups. With this incentive in place, the resident began to engage more -- joining groups, hanging out in the milieu, and building rapport with staff and other residents. Once engaged, the client began to see the situation from a new perspective and initiated their own plan to be successful after discharge. This client has since passed their evaluation and have stepped down to an nonsecure facility.

This case shows how strongly Community plays a part in helping people to get better. This client struggled to make progress until they began to engage with others and become part of the community at the facility. Creating community within treatment facilities is essential in helping people reach their treatment goals and move on to a brighter future.

Physical exercise greatly benefits our mental health by reducing stress hormones and increasing production of feelgood chemicals. It also can boost self-esteem and confidence and provide a much needed distraction from negative mental health triggers and stressors. Follow for more centering and grounding techniques.
