Words of Wednesday ~

Creative Writing Class Highlight ✨

Tyler-

“Left, right, up, down.
Direct to the end and the answer is found.
But which way to go?
I’m stuck at the start!
My brain says go left.
But go right, says my heart.
In this big maze of life, there are so many choices.
To follow your gut or listen to voices.
Of others who are lost in this big maze of life, we all hit dead ends and experience strife.
But stuck in one spot, undecided, and lost is a definite failure and much greater cost.
So choose a direction and go, baby, go.
As Dr. Seuss says, “oh, the places you’ll go.”

Recovery holds so many gifts and talents.

Growth often shows up as accountability.

Not the loud, finger-pointing kind.
The quiet, brave kind.

The kind that asks us to look inward before we look outward.
The kind that invites responsibility instead of excuses.
The kind that reminds us we are capable of more than we sometimes allow ourselves to be.

Accountability isn’t about shame.
It’s about ownership.
It’s choosing to show up even when it’s uncomfortable.
It’s honoring your word.
It’s recognizing that your healing, your choices, and your future matter.

And just as important, it’s learning to receive accountability from others with humility instead of defensiveness. Sometimes the people who care about us most are the ones willing to lovingly tell us the truth. Not to hurt us. Not to control us. But to help us grow.

When someone holds you accountable, they’re often saying:
I believe in you.
I see your potential.
You’re worth the effort.

Growth happens when we stop seeing accountability as something done to us and start seeing it as something done for us.

You don’t have to be perfect.
You just have to be willing.

And that willingness? That’s where real change begins.

What if it was someone you loved?

A simple black book…

Holding sacredly the names of those still caught up in addiction, or who have lost their lives to overdose.

Every evening in the cafe, we hold two minutes of silence for those still struggling with substance use and for the loved ones who have lost someone to the cruel world of addiction.

These names, these words of love, are never lost on us…

If you are still out there and want a chance to choose another way, we would love to have you!

Every Monday and Tuesday evening, we hold a newcomer orientation at 5 PM, please come see us.

To every one of our members, thank you for reclaiming your life! A lot of your names are in these books. 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Would you consider giving of your time one evening a month?

At Recovery Café, dinner time is more than a shared meal. It's about connection and knowing you are not alone.

We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to serve dinner and help with cleanup one evening a month.

Your time creates a safe, welcoming space for people in recovery to feel seen, valued, and supported. And often, those who serve say they receive just as much as they give.

If you’ve been looking for a simple but meaningful way to give back, this might be it.

💛 One evening.
💛 A giving heart.
💛 Lives impacted ~ yours included.

Message us or comment below if you’d like to learn more.
