🎆 4th of July Cat Safety Tips 🇺🇸
Fireworks and festivities can be frightening—and dangerous—for cats. Here’s how to keep your feline friend safe:

1. Keep Outdoor Cats Inside
Even if your cat is usually indoor-outdoor, bring them in on the 4th (and ideally, the days surrounding it). Loud noises and flashing lights can cause panic, and many cats go missing trying to escape the commotion.

2. Check Microchip Info
If your cat is microchipped, make sure your contact info is up to date in the registry. A microchip can be a lifesaver if your cat gets spooked and runs off.

3. Use a Collar & ID Tag
If your cat does go outside, a breakaway collar with an ID tag adds an extra layer of protection. It helps Good Samaritans reunite lost cats with their families.

4. Create a Safe Space Inside
Set up a cozy, quiet room with hiding spots, soft bedding, food, and water. Play soft music or white noise to help mask the sound of fireworks.

5. Close Windows & Secure Screens
Even indoor cats may bolt or push through loose screens if startled. Double-check that all windows and doors are securely closed and that screens are secure.

6. Don’t Bring Cats to the Party
Even social cats can get overwhelmed by crowds and noise. It’s best to keep them in a safe, calm part of the house during parties.

7. Watch Out for Toxic Foods & Decorations
Keep alcohol, BBQ scraps, and party decorations (like string, tinsel, and glow sticks) out of reach. Many are toxic or dangerous if ingested.

8. Be Cautious with Fireworks & Sparklers
Never use fireworks or sparklers near your cat—even if they’re inside. The smell, sound, and flashing lights can be traumatic and harmful.

We hope you safely enjoy the celebrations on the 4th!
