Bryan Hall and his talented crew from Hallmark Windows & Doors installed a door that leads directly into my office.
No more walking through Amy's office to reach me. Sorry, Amy, it took 5 years to get this completed.

Thank you to the Medina County Senior Services Network (MCSSN) for another Senior Health and Resource Fair! Again, this year, the event was held at Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital. The event is primarily for the benefit of hospital social workers, case managers, and nurses. The event provides information mainly to assist with discharge planning.
This year’s theme was “Celebrating Summer”. Representing the County Home again this year, Amy Perrine had the opportunity to meet with staff at the hospital. Celebrating Summer is the perfect way to showcase the Home. With our own summer celebration, cookouts and parties in the pavilion, Amy had a lot of great info to share.
Thank you also to Sandy Kaczur, MCSSN Education Committee Chair for organizing and providing lunches to those who attended the event. In case you don’t know, the Medina County Senior Serves Network publishes a comprehensive resource guide that is extremely helpful for those families and professionals looking for resources.

Rolondo Pizano came to entertain the residents. Not only does he sing and play guitar, he also tells the history of the songs that he performs.

Rolondo was sponsored by Access the Arts and has also taught ukulele to some of our residents in the past.

Rolando is a local guitarist from Uniontown, OH. He has performed publicly and privately in the NE Ohio area for the past twenty years.

He plays a variety of different styles, and covers a blend of decades from Jazz, Rock, and Blues all infused with an underlying groove of Latin/Island rhythms.

Rolondo teaches elementary education in Akron.

The resident went to the Sharon Center to hear Wishgarden, a Northeast Ohio indie rock band that connects with audiences through feel-good rock & americana music genres. They apply their own upbeat vibe to their original songs and updated versions of the music of Van Morrison, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffet, John Prine, Beatles, Neil Diamond and Cat Stevens, among others. Originals written by band member and singer-song writer Tony Paparella range from soulful ballads to funky-blues about life, love, frantic family vacations and finding one's place in the universe.

The Clutters family and crew hosted a Memorial Day, 4th of July, Christmas in July party on June 29th. Homemade cookies, homemade potato chips, and watermelon were also served. Volunteers included Russ and Melinda Clutter, Rustee and Eric Rose, Dusty Eakin, Amy and Jamie Spence, and Debbie Bunch. The Friends surprised the residents by donating a combo vending machine to the Home.
When it arrived, it was placed in the community room and left in the box.
The residents had no idea what was in the box.
I came in at 11 PM after all residents were out of the room to unbox it and have the 3rd shift figure out how to load it.
They figured it out and had it all ready to go the next morning.
The residents are enjoying the convenience of being able to drink a beverage or have a snack without having to leave the building.
Thanks FOMCH!

Our 3rd annual Summer Celebration was held June 18 under our pavilion at the Home. The Friends of Medina County Home (FOMCH) graciously paid the meals of the residents, County Home staff, and Aramark staff. The food was provided by Lagerheads located on Abbeyville Road. Owner Jone Kiene served everyone 3 ribs, pulled chicken, a smoked sausage, cornbread, mac & cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw. The Cleveland Cookie Dough Company provided the dessert. Live music entertainment was provided by Van Eidom and Neil Putnam. Balloon art was created by Danimal a.k.a. Dan Dufek. Access the Arts provided the table decorations. Not only did the FOMCH pay for the event, but Linda and Brian Bjorkland, Gina Knapik, Kathy Rickaby, Pat Sabol, and Eric Basch also volunteered their time at the event. Thank you Friends for an amazing event!
