AML AML (Advanced Magnet Lab, Inc.) is a recognized leader in the development of innovative magnet-based applications.

Founded in 1995, AML is a recognized leader in the development of innovative magnet- and superconducting-based applications that offer significant economic and social impact – especially in the developing regions of the world. AML’s innovation portfolio is comprised of dozens of existing and pending patents that cover hundreds of discrete technologies and processes; and the company’s customers and partners include an impressive list of international science projects, laboratories, universities and corporations. AML’s Perfect-FieldTM Application Development Process incorporates many of the company’s proprietary technologies to enable the rapid commercialization of superconductivity and next-generation magnetics. This puts the company at the forefront in the most anticipated transformational solutions, ranging from renewable energy to superconducting industrial motors. The Perfect-FieldTM process is revolutionary because it removes the many constraints inherent in conventional application development and—in a manner similar to 3D printing-- it automates the transformation of a theoretical magnetic field into a functioning, application-perfect reality. This allows visionary companies to move new, high-impact applications from concept to market very rapidly, and with greatly reduced cost and risk. AML has evolved into a transformational force via innovation and success across multiple markets. The company’s market focus and landmark achievements include:

• International joint venture to develop technology for social impact: as a major partner in a $20 million joint venture with the sustainability-focused Fundación AVINA and the Chilean-based Advanced Innovation Center (AIC). Code-named The New Century Alliance, this ambitious collaboration is creating major demonstration projects that will accelerate progress toward large-scale commercialization of superconductivity in the fields of energy, environment and water.
• Medical Technology: providing patented and enabling commercial magnet products for medical proton therapy cancer treatment.
• Sustainable Energy: serving as the Department of Energy’s lead developer for the next generation of US offshore wind turbine generators.
• Aeronautics: Serving as NASA’s lead developer for the next generation propulsion systems for commercial aircraft.
• Space: Serving as NASA’s lead developer for space radiation shielding to enable human exploration into deep space.
• International Science: Serving as the Argonne National Laboratory’s lead developer for a superconducting motor for Grand Accélérateur National d’Ions Lourds (GANIL)

AML’s innovative “Rapid-TrackTM Relationship and Licensing Model further facilitates commercialization by offering companies flexible options for licensing and marketing AML proprietary technologies based on specifically defined markets and fields of use.

China outlines more controls on exports of rare earths and technology

"Wade Senti, president of the U.S. permanent magnet company AML, said it’s time to innovate.

“The game of chess that China is playing underscores the importance of developing innovation that changes the game and puts the United States in leading position,” Senti said."

Thank you to Congressman Haridopolos for visiting our Florida headquarters to discuss how American-made magnet technology can ensure that we out innovate our adversaries, onshore critical supply chains, and protect national security.

At AML, we've been working around-the-clock to create what America does best: technological innovation. Magnets power American day-to-day life, and we're grateful for support from elected officials, commercial companies, and the defense industry to build the best magnets in America. 🧲 🇺🇸

In the 1990s, Chinese Premiere Deng Xiaoping declared: "The Middle East has oil, and China has rare earths." Fast forward to today—30 years later—and China controls the permanent magnet supply chain that powers U.S. military might, critical infrastructure, and so much of daily life.

But it was not always this way. In the 1980s, American researchers invented practical methods for producing neodymium permanent magnets, leading to Magnequench in Indiana and the pioneering of permanent magnet technology and manufacturing.

The lesson? Innovation without strategic, all-of-government industrial policy leads to offshoring and dependence.
America can ill afford to wait longer.

A new op-ed in Newsweek walks through an America First approach to permanent magnet manufacturing that combines innovation, technology, and American companies to outmaneuver China. The stakes are too high to wait.

The U.S. government must pursue an innovative, dynamic approach to reestablish permanent magnet manufacturing before geopolitical tensions lead to a point of no return for American industry and national security.

From military systems to vehicles to everyday electronics, Americans’ day-to-day life depends on permanent magnets. But as it stands today, China controls the near-total production of rare earths and magnets. They are threatening to chokehold magnet supply chains to undermine the safety and security of all Americans.

This evolving crisis warrants urgent, comprehensive U.S. government action. The below op-ed in Newsweek speaks on why and how the U.S. government must invest in a long-term permanent magnet manufacturing strategy that: (a) Invests in new magnet technologies, infrastructure, and talent recruitment, (b) Removes red tape for domestic resource development, and (c) treats permanent magnet independence as an imperative national security issue

Time is of the essence.

The U.S. government must pursue an innovative, dynamic approach to reestablish permanent magnet manufacturing before geopolitical tensions lead to a point of no return for American industry and national security.
