Announcing the Yoga Melrose Fall Student of the Season: Jennifer!
Jennifer will be featured in a post each Thursday of the fall season on Yoga Melrose Instagram and Facebook. Here is our exclusive interview with Jennifer:

YM: Tell us a little about yourself.
JFH: I am Jennifer Frank Heinze but in Melrose most know me as Ms. Frank. I was the kindergarten teacher at St. Mary's school for 25 years before retiring from the classroom 2 years ago. I am married to John Heinze and we have a dog named Sadie. We live in Grove Lake which is about 30 miles southwest of Melrose.

YM: Tell us a little about your hometown and what it was like.
JFH: I am originally from St.Cloud and my parents still live in the home that I grew up in. I lived in St. Cloud for the first 18 years of my life after graduation I attended college in North Dakota for 5 years. Then started my teaching job in Melrose and lived here for 20 years, so Melrose is kinda like my second hometown because I lived here longer than I did in St. Cloud.

YM:What Hobbies and activities do you enjoy?
JFH: I love doing yoga of course! I like to garden but harvesting and canning/freezing is my favorite part of the process. We like to go camping and just hang out on the lake boating or fishing. I enjoy reading and love getting together with my bookclub girls.

YM: How long have you been doing yoga?
JFH: I started doing yoga with Anne in the basement of SNAP fitness on Sunday evenings, so many years ago. (We had to move some of the weight equipment in order to place our mats down.) Then one Sunday night this super sweet girl named Amy came to class. I think this might have been where the dream of Yoga Melrose started. Anne and Amy have helped me grow in my practice over the years, I am truly blessed!

YM: What do you like best about your yoga practice?
JFH: I love that I can just breathe and decompress from the day. When I practice I feel stronger in mind, body and spirit. Gentle is my favorite class!
YM: Tell us something unique about yourself?
JFH: I like to repurpose old things and make them into something new and useful for our home, garden or to give as gifts to friends.

Thank you Kathy for being our Summer Yoga Student of the Season. Here is a recap of our exclusive interview with Kathy:

YM: Where did you grow up?
KATHY: I am from Belgrade and have lived here most of my life. I have 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
YM: How long have you been doing yoga?
KATHY: On and off for about 17 years. I started out with a community ed class and then to Paynesville with Dana Spates until she retired from teaching classes so my friend Karen got me started in Melrose!
YM: What hobbies and activities do you enjoy?
KATHY: Of course I love yoga, I still do some sewing and like to go for walks-only in nice weather. I like to read-mostly fiction and occasionally go to grandkids’ various activities.
YM: What do you like best about your yoga practice?
KATHY: I like the feeling of well being after a class. I like trying to keep flexibility in my body and it is also good for the soul and keeping a positive attitude although it does not help me put down thoughts on paper!Someday I want to be able to do the crow pose without falling over!a Also would like to incorporate some yoga and breathing exercises in my daily life.
YM: Tell us something unique about yourself.
KATHY: I don’t think I am unique-10 fingers and 10 toes just an ordinary person.
