About this Practice
I am a bilingual psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience in providing psychiatric care in the VA Healthcare system as well as community health settings. With much experience treating various mental health conditions with medications in the absence of therapy, I started this practice with the hope of getting to know my clients.
As a psychiatric mental nurse practitioner, I use both medications and psychotherapy to assist people with stress-related conditions. Over the past five years much of my training has been in psychodynamic therapies. These therapies are dynamic, flexible, and highly individualized but to some extent based on theories about the mind. I am interested in not only relieving symptoms but also getting at the causes and condition that led to each person entering my office. As a therapist I specializing the treatment of anxiety and issues surrounding self-esteem and the development of personality. As I am curious about each of clients, I try to help my client to achieve greater emotion regulation by exploring thoughts and feeling especially in the contect of relationships. My approach is grounded in attachment theory.
As a psychopharmacologist I stive to be as informative as possible about medications. I am concerned with minimizing distress and removing obstacles that prevent individuals from finding away to be the best version of themselves. I provide a detailed assessment and try to work with each individual to determine goals as well as target problematic symptoms. From there we will work together to determine the best course of action.
