Absolutely — but not all clothing offers the same level of protection.
Fabrics act as a physical barrier against UV rays, but factors like weave, color, and material matter. Tightly woven fabrics (like denim, canvas, or synthetic blends) block more UV than lightweight, sheer fabrics. Darker or brighter colors absorb more UV rays, offering better protection than light pastels.
You can also look for clothing labeled with a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating — the higher the UPF, the better the protection! 🧢👕
Quick tip: When in doubt, hold fabric up to the light. If you can see through it easily, UV rays can too.
