OZEMPIC DOING MORE THAN SHEDDING FAT

Weight-loss medications like , Wegovy, and Zepbound are helping people shed pounds quickly, but doctors are now warning about possible hidden side effects that may come with rapid weight loss.

Health say some users may also be losing muscle mass and bone density as the weight comes off. According to orthopedic specialists, losing more than two pounds per week can push the body into what’s known as “starvation mode,” where it begins breaking down not only fat, but also muscle and bone for energy.

Doctors warn the body may pull calcium from bones to support vital organs, potentially leaving the skeleton weaker and increasing the risk of fractures from even minor falls.

Experts are encouraging people taking GLP-1 medications to make sure they’re getting enough protein, calcium, and vitamin D during their weight-loss journey. One reportedly found that obese patients using GLP-1 drugs faced a 9% higher risk of fractures compared to those not taking the medications.

Possible warning signs of bone loss can include weakness, difficulty walking, trouble bending or squatting, and broken bones after small accidents.
