VeinViewer uses harmless near-infrared (NIR) light, very similar to pulse oximetry, which is flooded down on to the patient’s skin surface. See if a vein rolls.

The VeinViewer family is a non-invasive, electro-optical visual aid device designed to detect superficial blood under the skin, and project an image of that blood pattern onto the surface of the skin. The blood adsorbs this NIR, and the surrounding tissue reflects it back to the imaging head. The head unit captures this returned data, processes it through our proprietary algorithms and sends it back to the skin surface with the green light added to the background for contrast. This technology allows VeinViewer to “see through the skin” viewing the blood underneath to locate veins. VeinViewer is the only device of its kind that can provide pre, during and post-access benefits. Locate valves and bifurcations. Watch blood disperse and refill while flushing IV fluids.
