CHOICES mourns the tragic loss of a phenomenal and inspirational woman, Dr Janell Green Smith.

Dr. Green Smith dedicated her life to advocacy for Black birthing individuals, tirelessly working to create affirming and safe spaces within the healthcare system to ensure they received the care they deserved. 
Her impact, mission, and vision will live on forever in the hearts of fellow Black certified nurse midwives who spend their lives fighting to put an end to the disproportionate Black maternal mortality rate.
To be taken by a system that she fought to reform is a devastating reminder of how much work remains. We owe it to her. 

May she rest in power.💚
