Tennessee Training Academy

Tennessee Training Academy Tennessee Training Academy’s (TTA) Day Reporting and Juvenile Reentry Center (DRC) will offer highly structured programming opportunities for youth.

This strength-based developmental model can be used as an alternative to the punitive system. Day Reporting Center (DRC) staff will work closely with the community, case managers and stakeholders to identify public safety concerns by addressing high risk/high need behaviors such as drug abuse, impulsivity, anti-social thinking, lack of employment and education, mental health concerns and lack of positive peer supports. A growing concern in Shelby County is youth in need of Wraparound services and Reentry strategies that provide for successful return to the community. Although some programming exists for these cases, a framework for more extensive support and deeper accountability is necessary. This model is based on a developmental approach that teaches consequences, accountability and responsibility. Youth will participate in a continuous and cohesive therapeutic framework both as individuals and as groups. By placing youth in a dynamic environment that has structure and discipline as well as support and nurturance which is a restorative model, the youth develop positive emotional, social, physical and mental attitudes that give them a platform to becoming contributing citizens.
