Had a great session with the recruits at Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Look, if your department expects state minimum academy training to prepare officers for the injuries they may encounter in the field, think again! Get your officers MediCop trained!

This is why MediCop is so important. This is why we don't cut corners. It's not training you'll necessarily use daily, but when you need it, you better be ready. Good job to the officer who was prepared and potentially saved this officers life!

Report

On Saturday, July 9, 2022, at approximately 1:45 p.m, MPD officers received a call concerning a stolen car. The person responsible for the theft was identified as 34-year-old Giorgio Minnis and is the nephew of the owner of the car. Minnis was disarmed and was taken into custody without injury. An officer on the scene applied a tourniquet to the injured officer's wound until paramedics arrived. The injured officer was transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. He was later upgraded to a critical but stable condition.

Spend $25 and buy yourself a training tourniquet(TK). Use it, practice with it when you go to the range. Incorporate TK drills into your combat courses. Make applying a TK as second nature as doing a malfunction drill.
