Nourish with Connection (Services coming soon!)

Pediatric Dietitian helping concerned parents of frustrated kids go from stressful & disappointing meals to peaceful and purposeful family meals that leave the whole family feeling nourished and connected.

As an adoptive mom I have spent too much time mourning the years I missed with my girls. We missed so many of their firsts… food, words, steps, etc.

But then I realized that dwelling on what I’ve already missed won’t help me miss less, in fact, I might end up missing more.

So I focus on all the moments we get to share now, and being grateful for those.

Did you know that kids who eat meals with their families on a regular basis have better health (mentally and physically)? That’s regardless of how “healthy” the food is.

It’s the act of connection that has the significantly positive impact on their health.

And kids who come into your family in unconventional ways (like through adoption, foster care, divorce, etc.) need connection even more than the rest of us — though it’s something every human needs.

Simply prioritizing meals together will help deepen your relationship and set your kids up for success in the future!

As a pediatric dietitian and adoptive mom, I talk a lot about this a lot and on my blog. Give me a follow if you need encouragement from a mom who is right there with you! 💞

I love caramel with apples — this flavor combo makes me happy! 🍏🍁

As a dietitian though, I know that eating apples and caramel alone as a snack (or breakfast 😅) won’t satisfy me for very long.

So, instead of not eating caramel and depriving myself of something I enjoy, I find something to ADD it to it.

Today it was almond butter. And it was a delicious combination as well as nutritious!

When it comes to health, we don’t have to cut out the things we enjoy just because they aren’t nutritious. Sometimes we just need to find a way to add something to it that is nutrient-dense.

Honestly, the apples and caramel can be enjoyed without guilt even if you don’t add anything with the caramel.

But this is something I like to enjoy throughout the fall, so adding nutrient-density works well for me and my kids!

Is this something you would enjoy as a snack?
