The First Year Foundation Incorporated

Our general goal is to assist in the work to bring about the dramatic reduction of infant mortality in Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee. We have a more specific goal of assisting women to have completely healthy birth outcomes and optimal maternal and reproductive health through the execution of fitness, health and wellness, and proper nutrition. We are exploring the possibilities of expanding in metropolitan Atlanta; Baltimore; Columbus, Ohio; Milwaukee; and San Antonio. Our logo is symbolic in two ways. The first is that the arrows are used to represent the "Circle of Life." The second is that the colors of our logo, green and purple, are used to promote and represent infant mortality awareness and life.Our philosophy is that ©“Memphis, through the collective efforts of its people, can become the international epicenter of hope for the complete ending of fetal and infant mortality.”

Our vision is that ©“The First Year Foundation Incorporated will be a leader in the international fight against fetal and infant mortality and the scientific research of their risk factors. The First Year Foundation Incorporated will subsequently be a leader in the international fight against adult and childhood obesity.”
