I have seen this come up a lot lately about leaves, branches, and roots. Leaves are seasonal; branches break under pressure; roots are lifelong. After all we have gone through as a family, and Trent as an individual, we have some of the most amazing roots in his life, and we are forever grateful for those who stayed and were here for him, supported him, pushed him, wanted to hang out with him, or just listened to him talk about his love of God and Jesus. One year ago, we patiently waited for the blizzard to stop in Omaha so we could finally come and start our intense therapy at Madonna. What would have been a quick flight turned into three hours, but when we landed, it was a sense of calmness - we are home, we made it together. He's fought so hard this past year, and I couldn't be more proud of him. He is my hero, my calm, and my peace. For someone who couldn’t walk, talk, eat, let alone stay up for 5 minutes, you have become the strongest root in all of this. I love you, sweet boy. To all of Trent's prayer warriors, thank you for all the prayers you send to him. I believe in prayer more so now than ever.
